View Full Version : July 2nd- Check In
Still here folks... I took castor oil yesterday out of desperation... yes, I did it... yes, I know... I'm an idiot... go ahead... you can say it... go on... I'll wait... ::waits:: Okay... now... anyway... Now that everyone has shaken fingers, laughed, pointed, gasped, whatever... this is what happened AFTER that. About SIX hours after I took it, I was walking happily through my house thinking, "Man, that castor oil didn't do squat... not even a flutter... oh well..." I only took about an ounce or two... probably more like one.
and BAM... I got the insane gurgle and bent over in half... ran for the bathroom... and spent the rest of the day being caught off guard like that. It was actually quite funny. Like some bad joke in a hokey movie. Once things in my stomach were calming down a bit, late last night, my contractions started to pick up as they USUALLY do, coming every five minutes and being a bit stronger than normal, so I got my hopes up... was keeping track of them... but they were staying irregular. ::sigh:: Oh well.
BUT, I went to get up out of bed, and had a small gush of fluid... I had to use the bathroom, so I wasn't sure if I just had an accident or what... so I changed and got cleaned up and laid back down, my contractions kept coming and going and no more fluid... but then I got up this morning and had another small gush, but I also hadn't used the bathroom yet... so i have NO idea what to think... usually when my water breaks... it just GOES... straight through layers of pads and everything... no doubt about it. This... I don't know what this is.
I don't normally have trouble "holding it"... so... hhmmm... if I have any more today I'll at least be calling my midwife's clinic and seeing what they say I should do... but for now, I'm waiting for more or a clearer sign that that's what this is.
There wasn't any odor, which made me think it was Amn. Fluid... but I had also been staying REALLY hydrated yesterday due to my stomach issue, I didn't want to get dehydrated... Anyway... that's where I am today... wondering what's going on...
RhysMom 07-02-2008, 10:43 AM Praying that the little one comes quickly. I am not quite sure what to think about the fluid issue. When I had Rhyanne the doctor had to break my water for me as I was induced at 42 weeks. Sorry...I know that isn't what you want to hear. I would call your midwife and let her know what is going on just to be sure.
Hugs!
Sara
gamommyto4girls 07-02-2008, 10:57 AM Oh, hugs Jen. Sounds like an exciting day. I would check in with your midwife about the fluid leak. I know you don't want to be induced but if you've truly ruptured membranes they usually need to make sure there's some progression. I did, with my second baby, spring a 'leak' in mine. Not a the gush of a true rupture but a slow trickle that was on and off.
I'll mention n*pple stimulation again as a labor starter too. Perhaps you could ask your midwife about it. That's brought on strong contractions in several women I know.
Thinking of you!
breezykc2 07-02-2008, 11:03 AM Oh I'd call her and be checked....my best friend had her water break like that...slowly over night and she just thought she was peeing a lot and wetting her pants (Horrors! LOL)...it was her water breaking, but due to the position of the baby, it didn't just spurt out like it sometimes does....
Just in case you did break your water...no sex or baths to keep baby safe since the sack could be broken! You're the pro by now, sure you know that, but had to throw it in! ;-)
catringa 07-02-2008, 11:10 AM jen....that sounds like your water breaking. that is EXACTLY what happened to me on my first kiddo. i always imagined a huge gush. so it is important that the levels of amnionic fluid get checked. my doctor also said...after a certain amount of hours (he said 12 hours...but i have also heard 24) that there can be a risk of infection to the baby. to me.........this sounds like this is it!!!! i predict you will be holding your baby VERY soon! :)
Well, I haven't had ANY more fluid leaking... so I would assume that I just wet my pants, which is horrible, but there we have it. I have been sitting on my ball ALL morning long, doing hoola-hoops, bouncing, and rocking back and forth and it hasn't freed up any more "fluid". If I have *ANY* more, I will definitely be calling them... but obviously that's not what my instincts are saying it is. Also, my contractions haven't gotten worse with the "fluid leak", and typically they do. So, we'll see... I'll keep trying to get babe to move differently so we can get more leaking, if that is, indeed, what it is. I'll keep you guys posted, though!!!! Keep praying with me!
~Tara~ 07-02-2008, 12:17 PM this has just be the season for 'different' pregnancies hasn't it?
my water generally gushes, with that first pushy feeling
but, as you know, not this time...just a little pop and a good leakage, but not an all out *gush*
but as I moved around, more worked its way out
hmm
still sounds like a possibility for you
we'll see :)
stay hydrated, regardless
Skunkers 07-02-2008, 12:24 PM I agree w/ getting checked out. It may be your fluid & maybe head has come down low making a "plug" ??? Better safe than sorry.
savedbygrace 07-02-2008, 12:31 PM Well I have to applaude you for giving it a go around with the oil. It never through me straight into labor, but with Abby it helped get things started and with Josiah, it helped him to drop and get me to have contractions (which wasn't your problem to begin with)
but hopefully something will come of all this and hopefully that something is a BABY!
we"re all cheering for you Jen!
kallumwilkes 07-02-2008, 12:48 PM Just a different take on the gushing....I do think you should report it to the doctor, but I don't think it is too concerning....I had the same thing happen with both of my pregnancies and the doctor said it was cervical fluid.....The same stuff that lubricates that area during intercourse....but because the baby is sitting there on the cervix, it gushes out from time to time.....
I am praying that you will have a timely and great delivery....hang in there, it is almost time....
4th of july, 4th of july!
I'm excited. . .wet, smet, here's what I bet- your water is breaking and guess what you'll get? A beautiful baby so, don't you fret=)
*there's that poetic streak again=)*
I hope that baby comes soon! I know you are ready to hold her in your arms! Just in case it was your water breaking, I would double check with your midwife. They do say that you need to be in labor a given amount of time after water breaks to be safe for the baby.
Keep us posted!
Donna B. 07-02-2008, 01:39 PM I agree with the advice to consult your midwife. Never hurts...
and Secondly...I'll be praying for the real thing to happen soon. I know every second your overdue seems like an eternity.
Why do they give us dates anyway...I would have been happier with a range. I never want to be "late" for anything..and all my babies were late. Hmm...They still make me "late" for things to this day. Maybe this baby of yours will have a "take your time" demeanor too!
Praying for labor to start soon!

Anywho... I'm still praying that God will bring things to a close before next week... thanks gals for all the advice and prayers!!! ::hugs::
