Come on ladies... I'm 40 weeks now... I *know* when I ovulated, I *know* when we conceived... this baby is 40 weeks "done"...... 40!!!! Oy. I'm *not* willing to do the castor oil, I just can't get that stuff down, and plus I don't think I could handle being on the pot all day long.
So what are some other "natural" ways to help labor get kick started? I have a lot of contractions, especially when on my feet, but nothing really stays going... know what I mean? We've tried BDing, walking, Eggplant Parmesan (total myth here people) and spicy food... ::Snort:: What am I missing? I'm willing to try some herbs but I would want specific dosage from someone who has actually *used* them successfully.
Sleeping is just about impossible now, I feel like all I do is pee round the clock, and I'm just generally irritable... you know, being uncomfortable 'round the clock can do that to a woman. So... anybody got some advice here??

I don't have any suggestions for you!!! :(
But I hope the ladies answer so I know what to do in case it's necessary... when the time comes!

time for a hands and knees floor scrubbin' ? ;)
use those stairs...like you don't go up and down them enough...maybe pick up the pace, if that's possible hehe
umm
other than that...just give up and resign to the fact that you will be pregnant forever...
then all of a sudden *bam* labor :p

I swear the exercise ball is what put me into labor, I'd watch tv and bounce and roll on that thing for hours, LOL. Hope you go soon! :)

Ha! This is exactly what I'm doing right now!!!! :)
And yes, you can BD right up until you have the baby, as long as your water hasn't broken or your doctor hasn't told you not to.... and granted you feel "up" to it! Ha!

I didn't use it. But a lot of midwives use blue cohosh. maybe you can google it and get some information. Also ask your midwife about it.
My midwife said when she worked in a birthing center they used it for induction. I asked if I should take it and she said she would rather me be at the hospital and not at home being induced.

I think it's more of a folk tale but in New England I'd hear "take a long ride down a bumpy dirt road" as everyone's sure fire labor starter. How about a looong walk at the mall (especially if it's hot outside).
The only other one I know of that's been used successfully by a friend is n*pple stimulation. This supposedly brings on some pretty intense contractions.
Hang in there Jen! You'll be holding the little one soon!

I tried just about everything when I was over a week overdue. She came just shy of 42 weeks. Maybe this baby is just a longer gestator. Trust and rest in the fact that you won't be pregnant forever. But in the meantime, BD, walking, and all that helps. I did use evening primrose oil right before I had her (applied to cervix) so maybe that helped, I don't know. But anyway, congrats on baking this little bean for a full 40 weeks and know that she'll be making her appearance soon. Remember that 40 weeks is only an average. Anywhere from 37-42 weeks is fine for the baby to come. Can't wait to hear your good news and see pics. ((((HUGS))))
