Sorry if this is TMI but I passed a rather big clot today. It was about the size of a NZ 20 cent piece (the old one) for those of you who know how big that is.
I was going to phone the midwife but never got around to it... we are still trying to adjust to having 2 kids LOL
So if it was some of my placenta should I worry?

Your midwife should know whether you delivered your placenta whole or not. If your placenta came out in pieces she would have likely had to take you to the hospital because a piece left behind is not a good thing. So likely it is not your placenta. If you keep passing blood clots you should call her though. Most clots should be gone within the first 24 hours. Can you tell where your uterus is presently? If it has risen in height instead of lowering then that is another warning sign. But likely it was a random clot and nothing to worry about. Your baby is beautiful! Congratulations again! :D

they told me to be especially aware of clots larger than a plum or bigger....

Thanks :) The midwife didn't say anything about my placenta. And it looked whole to me...
That was the only big one I've passed and I am not passing any more now. So I guess it was just a clot.
My midwife is coming tomorrow so I will double check with her but I'm sure she'll say she isn't worried. And I feel fine...
I have no idea where my uterus is. I know things are different down there still...
And thank you :D She is beautiful IMO too but I'm her mother so I'm biased :D

Oh thanks for that! It definitely wasn't that big. Probably half that size.

Blood clots are usually caused when you are sitting and laying down for an extended amount of time and the blood pools in the canal then when you get and go to the bathroom it all comes out... and since it was sitting there it had some time to coagulate!
But I am talking the bloodclots that you still get after you have come home... Not the clots during the first 24 hours or so.
