I saw my midwife today and went ahead and requested a cervical check (why not)... a week ago I was half a centimeter and today I am 2! 70 % effaced but babe is still high at -2 station. The midwife told me that being two and 70% effaced, to her, is a pretty clear signal that labor will NOT be starting soon... I just think it's odd though that I went from 1/2 to 2 in a matter of a week.

Hhhmm... I guess only time will tell huh? I'm certainly not TRYING to go into labor but it will help me deal with these contractions better if I have the feeling that they are doing something... ANYTHING at all. If *I* had to guess, I'd say that I'm going to go when I TYPICALLY go, at 37 weeks... this weekend. That's all I've got for now! I'm excited!!!

Hey you might make it to 39 weeks! It's encouraging to know you're at least dialated. Your BH are doing something! I'm excited for you!

Thanks for the update, I am also a progress oriented person. I have a much easier time enduring something if I know it's doing something. Hang in there and keep us posted!

ditto what Tara said. have the contractions stopped? a weekend would be convenient wouldn't it? hubby would be home for sure right? wow, your body is definately getting ready! so the contractions are for something. one can hope that all this pre labor contraction stuff might make for a shorter real labor? :) one can hope.....hang in there! :) thanks for letting us know how it went!

Well THIS weekend hub has a big client coming into town... so this weekend wouldn't be *best* so of course, you can bet your money THIS will be THE weekend! Ha! But, that's what I'm hoping too, Catringa, that all this will shorten my labor... I don't care if this DOES go on for another three weeks, as long as in the end, I have a shorter easier labor!

ETA: I forgot to answer your question as to whether or not the contractions have stopped... they are still here and still regular "most" of the time, but not growing in strength. Sooooooo... they are probably still working to dilate my cervix and such... so we'll see how things progress. :)

Jen, I had serious braxton hicks for WEEKS with dd. Kept me up practically every night for at least a few hours. BUT, it did pay off. One night I woke at 3:30am not really sure if I was in *real* labor or not and she was born at 6:25am! Hopefully that is how it will work for you!
