Very interesting. It makes me reconsider whether I will have 'organ donor' on my driver's license when I renew next month.

I'm not an organ donor anymore. I've heard that the med community is quick to make decisions with you in order to make sure they can save your organs. The way I figure it, I have a hubby and parents to make that decision for me, when they get a release from the Lord to do so, and not a moment sooner. If I'm definitely done for, I don't care where my organs go, but only God knows for sure when my pull date is. LOL!

After reading the news story from the OP, I'd guess that most people aren't as concerned that docs will try to harvest their organs before they're actually gone on purpose but are more concerned that the medical community might be wrong about the finality of being "brain dead".

Of course this could be a very rare occurance where the lady wasn't really completely dead anyway, or it could be a complete miracle where she was raised from the dead. Either way though, it makes people stop and think about whether or not folks are really dead during certain circumstances where they're "declared" brain dead, but their body is kept alive with machines. If one person can come back, people are going to wonder if more could've, or if they or their loved ones could've, or were alive when organs were harvested.
