Those of you who are sharing my frustration in the struggle to potty train might be interested in this. I started potty training Audrey last week, and it's been pretty hit and miss. Some days, she'll use the potty, and she won't on others. I was beginning to start to get frustrated, thinking, "I give. We'll just do diapers again." Except I wasn't sure if that was right, either. So, I prayed, and I didn't feel like God wanted me to quit quite yet, but I asked him to steer me in the right direction.

And then I found it. The suggestion for No-Pants Wonderday, which is just what my nickname for it is. It was an article on the web suggesting that, if you're starting to get frustrated, tired of constantly washing training panties (which I was), wait for a day when you don't have to do anything and let your toddler run around the house naked from the waist down. And I guess that will tell you about my level of frustration. I not only took it seriously, but I tried it today.

I think that the author of that article might have something, too. Audrey really liked having a bare bottom all day long (except for naptime). So much so that she tried to take her pull up off when we put her to bed tonight. We had 2 accidents, which is less than we have been having, and she actually used the potty! I think she had decided that it was the same difference to wet her pull up or we her training panties. But when it runs down her leg, she's taking it more seriously. She's purposely holding it now, to avoid peeing all over herself. One of her accidents was next to the toilet, so she was trying.

Unfortunately, she held off from going poopy until she had a diaper on for naptime, but I figure that Rome wasn't built in a day. I'll get concerned about that if it becomes a habit. But I'm really hoping to only do the no pants thing for the next couple of days. Hopefully, she'll be able to handle training pants by next Monday. Of course, she'll be back in diapers on Sunday, so that'll be a nice break for her, but, otherwise, I'll be working hard at helping her learn to control this stuff!

[cheer] Yay for your dd! It sounds like she is on the right track! My dd did not like being naked - she was already old enough to be embarrassed I guess. Good luck! :)

Btw, I loooove your signature! It is so beautiful! :D

Yeah! I am so happy the No Pants thing worked for you...it didn't with my little girl...she didn't like the lack of control that no undies/diaper gave her...

Anyway, I wanted to throw out and idea for you to ponder from the experience I have had...I was so concerned about my dd peeing in the toilet and like you said I'd worry about the pooing later...but NOW...we have pooing issues and if you read around...alot of people have the pooing issue...peeing in the toilet seems easy compared to pooing...therefore, when my ds gets ready to potty train I am not gonna sweat the peeing and just work on catching the poo in the pot...I have had people tell me that if you focus on the pooing then the pee with follow easily.

If you are frustrated with the cleaning up the pee...you might consider focusing on the pooing which comes less often and yet will still probably lead to the peeing in the toilet. Just food for thought.

this is how we got jake to poop in the potty. he has been completely urine traines since the end of june ( with just a few accidents) but he would never poop on the potty. he has just started to go. (he is 3 years and 4 months). we let him run around with nothing one from the waist down and told him, if you poop on the floor you have to clean it up. and so far it is working. he goes to pre k 3 days a week and if he has an accident there (bm) then we pick him up and bring him home. i think that once my little girl has a bit of control when training we will do the same for her. she is 20 months and will try to pull her pants down and take her diaper off to sit on the potty.

That's how I potty trained my ds. It worked well for us too. He didn't go naked the whole day though. Just a few hours each day until he realized that he could go when he wanted and then pants were no big deal!

Congratulations!!! Keep up the good work!!

Oh... It took an icky turn today. She has now gotten to the point that she doesn't want it in her diaper at naptime. She woke up and had to go #2, took off her diaper and went in the middle of the floor. Ewww! On the one hand, I'm grossed out as can be, but on the other hand, I'm really pleased that she recognized that she had to go and made the effort to not dirty herself. I'm just going to look at this icky glass as being half full, by golly!
