Those of you who are sharing my frustration in the struggle to potty train might be interested in this. I started potty training Audrey last week, and it's been pretty hit and miss. Some days, she'll use the potty, and she won't on others. I was beginning to start to get frustrated, thinking, "I give. We'll just do diapers again." Except I wasn't sure if that was right, either. So, I prayed, and I didn't feel like God wanted me to quit quite yet, but I asked him to steer me in the right direction.
And then I found it. The suggestion for No-Pants Wonderday, which is just what my nickname for it is. It was an article on the web suggesting that, if you're starting to get frustrated, tired of constantly washing training panties (which I was), wait for a day when you don't have to do anything and let your toddler run around the house naked from the waist down. And I guess that will tell you about my level of frustration. I not only took it seriously, but I tried it today.
I think that the author of that article might have something, too. Audrey really liked having a bare bottom all day long (except for naptime). So much so that she tried to take her pull up off when we put her to bed tonight. We had 2 accidents, which is less than we have been having, and she actually used the potty! I think she had decided that it was the same difference to wet her pull up or we her training panties. But when it runs down her leg, she's taking it more seriously. She's purposely holding it now, to avoid peeing all over herself. One of her accidents was next to the toilet, so she was trying.
Unfortunately, she held off from going poopy until she had a diaper on for naptime, but I figure that Rome wasn't built in a day. I'll get concerned about that if it becomes a habit. But I'm really hoping to only do the no pants thing for the next couple of days. Hopefully, she'll be able to handle training pants by next Monday. Of course, she'll be back in diapers on Sunday, so that'll be a nice break for her, but, otherwise, I'll be working hard at helping her learn to control this stuff!
