Or did you? I'm thinking about being more private. Hannah still nurses upwards of 8 times per day, so I usually just nurse her where I am and try to be discreet unless I think that someone would be terribly offended by her nursing in front of them. But I think that if anyone ever made rude comments to me about nursing, I might start crying! I don't want to have to go off on defending what's best for MY FAMILY, but on the other hand, I don't want to drop out of society in order to meet my daughter's needs. I would prefer to let her drop nursings on her own, since I plan on letting her self-wean if all goes well.
So what was your experience?

Alex stopped nursing when he was just over 2, but I am not sure when I stopped NIP - I *think* around 18 mos I started bringing a bottle of water, milk, or very watered down juice with us on outside trips so that if he were thirsty I could always give him something other than my breast - I would still nurse him in the car during the day if he asked. Towards the end he only nursed at night and after I got pg again he lost interest in it altogether (my cousin said your milk changes when you are pg which is why they don't like it anymore).
It wasn't an age as much as a social decision. If we were at a restaurant, I'd order him a water. And so on. Pretty much Aiden and Bobert learned that there were good times to get nanas and not so good times.
Sometimes I'd just tell them a little later... eventually they decided that cups were fine and went to morning, naptime, nighttime nursing. Then just nighttime, then none.
I cried when Aiden weaned. I rejoiced when Willie (would not stop biting) and Bobert did. bwahahahahaha.
