Why is it, that when my 2 year old will be so picky when it comes to food for me, but eat anything my husband or the grandmas try to give him? It drives me insane!

When you know the answer, tell me because my son does the same thing!

I have a theory on this (I have lots of theories btw so be forwarned!). I think that our kids eat better, sleep better, and behave better for others because they don't know what will happen to them if they don't! J knows what will happen if he doesn't listen to me, how hard he can push before he really gets it, etc. But he doesn't know those answers for others. Make sense?

For me, the worst part of that theory is that I must not be as consistent as I think I am, so I have to work on that!

I also heard that they behave better in preschool and school because it's expected from them from the start and everyone is doing it so they do too. All the rules are presented from a near stranger at the beginning and so they behave because they have no idea what will happen if they don't! They don't have the learning curve with others that they do with us.

Encouraging isn't it!!! We should swap kids so that they are always on their best behaviour!!! LOL

You are safest with the one who loves you LOTS. It is in a way a testimony to how safe our kids feel with us. Home schooling has that constant issue...requires much discipline and training on mom's part and the children's. I will sometimes ask them...if you were in school would you be talking to a teacher like that or refusing to do that or being so slow or so grumpy? I remind them how blessed they are and they usually shape up. With toddlers...they wouldn't grasp that they are treating you differently . But I think it is because we are hardest on the ones closet to us. We are sure of their undconditional love deep down. With others...Not so sure! With grandparents...they don't have to live with them and grandparents reward them all the time and give them neat things. So they want to please them! :D
