View Full Version : I feel sick

I just ate half a bag of licorice sticks   I'm really trying to get this baby out! But I don't think it's working :( I love licorice but not this much ICK And I'm sure it will make me constipated since it has Molasses in it which is high in iron.
Oh and I'm drinking the red raspberry leaf tea too. I guess I can drink as much of that as I want since it is Caffeine free? It says 3-4 cups a day. But there is no caffeine in it so it should be ok right?

I have tonight and tomorrow to get this baby out otherwise she'll have to stay in for another 5 days until next weekend! :(

I do hope that it all works out as you want it to. Maybe our Lord will see fit to do that. Be careful! :D

I'm not really sure about the raspberry leaf tea, but I am praying that your little one will make her entrance soon! And Yes, please be careful!
Luv ya hun!

Black licorice is one of my last resorts in a few weeks. I hate the stuff.

I'm sorry you feel sick from it.

I don't think the red raspberry tea will do anything. Except make you have to go to the bathroom a lot.

Praying Sophie decides to come out soon.

i hope she comes sooner rather than later.
Are you past your due date now?
d:)

I've run out of licorice so I won't be eating anymore of that... I feel fine... it was just from eating so much... like eating candy LOL I only had the one packet over two days.
Now I'll just stick to the red raspberry leaf tea which doesn't seem to be doing anything either... oh well :(
I told Paul we are going for a LONG walk today LOL

My due date is today :(

Well, they even have trouble sometimes getting labour to start with drips and gels so one wonders about the merits of these "remedies".

Don't worry hon, it will be over before you know it.

Praying all goes well my friend

Yeah but they had no trouble with me LOL They induced me last time at 5pm and by 7pm I was having mild contractions and Abby was born at 4:34am the next morning. It all happened very fast. I just wish they would go ahead and induce me right now :(
We went to visit my parents yesterday afternoon and I burst into tears because I want baby to come out NOW LOL I don't care about the pains I'm having... I think I'm getting used to them... but I just want to see my baby girl KWIM? I'm all excited and every day that it doesn't happen I get depressed and now all I think is "I'm not going to go into labour naturally, they will have to induce me again". I know my due date was only yesterday but I am not showing any signs that labour is going to happen soon. And both my mum and I both don't think I've dropped fully yet. I'm probably only Station 1 still. :(

Thanks everyone. I'm just sick of being told by my mother and Paul that it would be better "for them" if I deliver mid September. Well do I care what's best for them? Paul wants to get his containers at work done before he goes on his weeks holiday. What does it matter if he is not there to do that? If he's on holiday then it's someone elses job end of story. Who cares.
And my mum said if I go into labour over the next week or so that she won't be able to come home and look after Abby during the day (she works fulltime) because she has too much to do at work. What? She can't come home to take care of her grandchild when her daughter is in labour? So then we have to take Abby with us and she will have to be in the delivery room with us. We don't have anyone else to take care of her. My dad said to phone him but he won't change diapers  so what is he going to do when she has a dirty diaper and needs changing?
Honestly, I thought my mum would just come home from work. Obviously this isn't important enough for her or her boss. :(
So I have to go two weeks overdue again to suit her and Paul. :x

I'm sorry.

You will get to see and hold and snuggle Sophie. It will happen. And I've heard that dropping happens later with babies if they aren't the first. Like sometimes not until the day you do go into labor.

Really? For some reason I thought it was the other way around...
Well I hope it happens soon. :(

Awww... You remind me alot of myself Renee. I remember those miserable days wondering if I was going to have to be induced, etc. etc. Red raspberry leaf tea, licorice, nipple stimulation, walking miles a day, even taking black and blue cohosh didn't get labor thoroughly started until it was ready to happen. I know that it feels like the baby will stay in there forever. :( But she will come out, I promise. :)

Renee, I'm praying for you! Those last few weeks just seem longer than the rest of the pregnancy put together, don't they? And now that you've hit 40 weeks, I'm sure you're more than anxious for this little one to make her appearance!

Hopefully when the time comes, your mum will become so excited, she'll tell work they'll just have to do without her for a while, her grandbaby is being born :D

Thanks Meg. You'd think so...

Ruth what is black and blue Cohosh? Did you try castor oil? Everyone I know who's tried it says that it worked. I don't want to risk harming baby though. :(

Thanks all :)

Black and blue cohosh is a herbal tincture that you can take. The day that I took it, I did get contractions, but they quit on me. I didn't try castor oil. That would have been my last resort. I've heard some possible negatives of it. Now, I've also been warned with black and blue cohosh before too. IMO, usually the best bet is to wait it out, unless you're going to be medically induced. I would have taken castor oil as an alternative to pitocin anyday.

Renee - are you serious they are telling you when it would be convenient for them with regards to the baby being born - WHAT?

Did you point to your belly and say "Try telling her that?"

I do understand your feelings of

LOL Do they only induce with the Pitocin drips in the US? They never used a drip for me. They inserted some gel and it worked the first time. They told me they might have to give me another dose but I guess they didn't need to. I'd rather be induced and have a fast labour like last time than be in labour for days ... but it would be good if they could induce me now rather than in two weeks KWIM?
Oh well....

They didn't say that I had to have the baby at such and such a time. But when I said how I was worried about going into labour during the week when my mum is at work she told me that she wouldn't be able to leave work this week or the beginning of next week and that it would be better if I had baby after that... :x If it was ME I would be like "my daughter is in labour and I have to take care of her daughter so I'm going home now". Too bad what the boss thinks. I doubt he would say she couldn't go. She is the only one that can look after her for me.
I've decided that if I go into labour during the week and she is at work I'm not even going to phone my dad or her. We'll just take Abby with us and Paul will have to hold her and she'll have to watch Sophie being born. I wouldn't want to disturb my mums precious work now...

Paul doesn't mind when Sophie arrives.. but he just tends to worry too much about how work will cope without him. I tell him that it's not his concern. That they will be fine. And that someone else CAN do his job. He just said one time that mid September would be good because he can have all his containers done by then.

Praying for you Renee. Hey something that worked for another lady and worked for me was drinking coconut water. I drank it on a friday night and had my daughter the following day. :D

I, too, can relate to those last loooong days. I've had some 'overdue'. First, just remember...due dates aren't 'set in stone' they're simply estimates.
Please do not take the cohoshes w/o direct supervision from Dr. or midwife. They won't really *start* labor so much, just intensify what is already happening. But easy to overdose and cause harm to the baby (I believe breathing difficulties ?)
Cautioning against castor oil too..can cause awful cramping in mom and of course, causes you to go to the bathroom...but it's doing the same to the baby. It could cause baby to have first stool in the womb and I'm sure you're already aware of those risks.

Safest option.... rough s*x and nipple stimulation, lots of walks....time, patience, prayer :)

I realize that. My first daughter (only other) was 2 weeks overdue and I had to be induced because she wasn't coming LOL
I won't be using the black and blue Cohosh or castor oil. I did some searching on the net to see what they say about Castor Oil and I don't want to take it. Even though it said that midwives do not believe that it makes baby pass meconium. They say that it makes you have terrible cramping, diarrheoa and vomiting... which I don't want.

I don't think Paul wants to have s*x that much LOL We tried it the other night but it didnt do anything. And he won't sit there for long doing the other thing mentioned...
It's not really possible for me to go walking right now because it's Winter and it's always either raining or the sky is grey and I don't have an umbrella since Abby broke it  and I don't have a raincoat. So unless the weater is nice and fine (blue sky) then I am stuck here. And I'm in a lot of pain so walking just makes that worse.

You don't need Paul for nipple stimulation...and you can walk around the house. I know it is hard to be overdue. I am surprized they let you go 2 weeks over with Abby...here about a week is all they let you go.

Yeah I know but it takes ALOT of that to work. I'd have to spend all day doing it LOL  And I'd have to walk around the house all day long...

I don't think either of those things would work anyway...

Yes they let you go 14 days overdue. They don't even induce earlier than that unless there is a good reason to do so. One week would be good... perhaps I just need to get on the phone and call the midwife and ball my eyes out over the phone about how much pain I'm in and how I'm worried about who is going to take care of Abby when I'm in labour if it happens during the week... [rofl]
