View Full Version : If this is a BFP, how should we tell our midwife and our family?
BlessedMommy 03-31-2008, 02:59 PM Just curious for any ideas on how to break the news if we are expecting again. I was thinking of going to my midwife and simply giving her a copy of my chart. And I thought about getting a big sister T-shirt for Hannah-but I don't think that I could wait until the shirt was done to tell family!
Any creative ideas or suggestions?
savedbygrace 03-31-2008, 03:11 PM You could buy some teracata pots and markers from hobby lobby, they're especially made for drawing on these pots and other items. Have ds decorate it and you could write your message on it. They can then use the pot to plant a seed and watch the plant grow and bloom during your pregnancy.
You could always have everybody over for dinner and make some rattle shaped cookies or something? Or you could create some kind of word puzzle that they have to figure out... I'm bad at this kind of thing... we usually just call, send a card, or something like that. I'm soooo not creative. :)
gamommyto4girls 03-31-2008, 04:25 PM I always wanted to do the "Big brother/sister" shirt thing and never did. My SIL announced she was having her second by wearing an "I'm Eating for 2" t-shirt to a family dinner. I've also thought of not calling them but by having my kids help with a card and sending in the mail. Hope you get your BFP and get to make your announcement in a fun/creative way!
cjropher 03-31-2008, 04:26 PM Our oldest called family to tell them we were growing by two feet. So corny, but they loved having ds talk to them LOL

[rotfl]so cute... I've never heard that one before :-D
I've never heard that one either! That's cute!!!
justmeNmine 03-31-2008, 08:47 PM You could always make the T-shirt with some puff paint and plain T :) I wish I would have thought of something creative for my two kids, but I pretty much just spit it out, over the phone with my son and in person (parents, friends) with my daughter.
believeNgrace 04-02-2008, 02:29 PM We had so much fun telling our family and friends.
I made special cards to give out.
For my inlaws we had them open a card that said "You are invited to a birthday party" with our due date, signed our names AND BABY. We had them open and read outloud at the family christmas gathering. Then we had family baskets made with personalized mugs for our family members so they could remember the day!
For my parents and siblings, we had a big box delivered to their doorstep(we were there at the time) and when they opened the box balloons popped out and we had the "birthday party" card attached to the balloons inside.
we got them all on tape, it was classic and the card is a great keepsake! we then compiled all the video clips and made a fun keepsake that we can show Grace one day how we told everyone she was on the way!
cjropher 04-02-2008, 03:22 PM I just remembered, with my first, we were at my parent's place and my dad offered dh and I some wine. I always say no anyway, but this time, I said, "I would, but the doctor says I can't..." Took my brother a little while, though his girlfriend (now wife) got it right away. My dad later complained that I never actually told them the right way, but I think he was joking!

Too funny, Jaylene! :D
4HisGlory 04-04-2008, 04:22 AM I think I am going to do the shirt, not say anything but wait till someone notices. I told dh about Josh by wraping my HPT in a little onsie and gave it to him...took him a while to figure it out but he eventually got it. It also made that onsie special. I think it was Lauracakes (where is she by the way?) that had a video of a her daughters b-day. Had her parents help her daughter open a present, it was a book with the title something like "Im a big sisiter" and every one was so excited.
