View Full Version : Nighttime disposable diaper help?

Okay, so we're all going insane from the lack of sleep around here, lol. And one big causative factor is that she seems to soak at least one diaper a night so I have to get up and change her.

I've been using generic brand dipes but would I have better luck with a name brand? Any suggestions?

And if I wouldn't have better luck with a name brand, is there any way to add a "doubler" to the dipe? I tried adding a menstrual pad to a dipe and it didn't seem to help. Thanks!

my youngest used to wear the papmpers cruisers. we found that they fit her the best. she is a huge drinker(still is but now she gets up)she drinks about 8-12 ounces at night, and she has never leaked. good luck

I've always had decent luck with major brand generics (WalMart, Target, etc.) Does she drink a whole lot before bed? I usually do a drink at supper and one small drink of water before bed. My dd is usually pretty wet in the AM but not soaked all the way through.

She breastfeeds a lot, even though she's not a huge water drinker, so I'm sure that that's a causative factor.

So, Lori, with your baby you didn't have to get up and change her in the middle of the night, using the cruisers?

I use cloth during the day but ds sleeps 12-13 hours at night in Huggies and never leaks.

And you don't have to change him for 12-13 hours? That'd be great!! Is he a big drinker?

we used Huggies overnight when we used sposies... ds would leak through anything else.

in cloth, we use a Fuzzi Bunz with a prefold and 2 hemp doublers.

I know what's it's like to have a soaked child wake up crying! Not fun! and you have to change out the bedding........

Luvs has always worked well for mine.

I always use one size bigger at night or they always wake up wet!... White Cloud was the only one that didn't leak with my DD (day or ngiht) but they have changed since she was in diapers. I'm using White cloud for my DS now and they work great so far. We use Luvs during the day with DS since thats what was working since birth...but now that he sleeps thru the night I've had to go up one size bigger with trusty ol' White Cloud
I would go up one size bigger before trying other brands.

Yup, he's a big drinker and a big soaker but the Huggies work great. During the day we use FuzziBunz and I used to use them at night with an extra hemp insert but he was leaking pretty bad so we switched and everyone is happier:)

luvs is gauranteed not to leak. if it does you call the number on the package and they reimburse you. same with huggies. they're customer service is awesome.
You could buy a package of terry cloth and fold them and lay them inside the disposable. Make sure when using the disposable you adjust the inner elastic.
Abby was a big drinker (still is) and I ended up using a generic from sams, which worked great. but I know Luvs and Huggies are guaranteed. Most Sams stuff is too, but didn't have a problem with them so I don't know.

Ds would go thru times of soaking more than others when he was small enough I would buy the Huggies Overnights and when he got too big for those (they only go to size 5) I would buy the small size of the Goodnights (they are pull ups for bigger kids). The Goodnights were kind of big, but he never soaked thru them. We still keep some on hand once in a while if he is having a bit of bed wetting or when he is sick, sometimes he wets the bed or has a little diarrea.

We always do the next size up of the diapers we typically use for night to absorb more and then the correct size at daytime...we use Pampers cruisers. Both were BIG night drinkers and the little one still is...the next size up method keeps the leaks at bay around here! The brand is really specific to the fit of the child I've found...my oldest could use Huggies and Luvs to not leak...my younger can only use Pampers due to skinnier legs, so the Huggies and Luvs leak on him....body shape plays a big part.

ruth -- we never had to get up and change her. she still wore the diapers until she was almost 3. she would wake up, of course, really wet. and they never leaked. we tried huggies and they did leak. i think that the cruisers fit her body type better ( she is long and skinny)

Thanks for all your replies, everyone! I bought some huggies and gave it a whirl and she slept for 6 hours before waking up to nurse! And she never cried about being wet. Ahh...heavenly sleep, lol! :D

Thanks ladies! Yeah, the sleep was GREAT. :D And she went 12 hours in the dipe before I had to change it. So unless that was a fluke, I'm going to be buying that kind from now on.
