I have started homeschooling my two children....ages 2 and 4, I was wondering if anyone could please give me some ideas for curriculum I have started researching...but I need a little guidance. I am mainly looking for things for my four year old, as I will have to have a more structured curriculum for him next year being that he will be in kindergarden. If anyone has any ideas please let me know thank you so much.

We started K last fall with our DS#1! What I did, was talk to friends in the area that homeschooled and checked out he curriculum they used. I ended up buying that, it was My Father's World. It's a good curriculum, and honestly, I needed something to get my feet wet with, but looking back, I think I would've saved money by just joining MACHE. It's Minnesota's association of Christian Home Educators. They sent out a huge binder with all the legal details and helpful hints and links to homeschooling groups. PLUS, they sent out the guidelines of what most families try to get through each grade level. Maybe maryland has a similar christian group? you could try google...

You can also check your own state Dept. of Ed. guidelines to use as a reference for what kind of things you'll need to teach for K if you are going to be following those. In our state, you need to do yearly assessment tests if you don't have a teacher's certificate or a BA degree, so even though you don't have to provide the test scores to the school, I'm more comfortable with making sure I'm teaching up to or beyond the state's levels per grade level...if that made any sense, LOL.

This next year, I'll be choosing different curriculums for each area of study. That will allow me to tailor the classes to fit DS's learning style and tailor the courses to fit his interests as well, while still staying within the range of what kinds of things the State recommends for First Grade....which we're just more comfortable with doing...though not everybody feels that way.

I found this website to be really helpful with choosing curriculums: www.rainbowresource.com It's a christian group with a HUGE selection of books and supplies and a HUGE paper catalog they will send out to you too. I have mine all marked up with highlighter on my fav. choices and then I google them and check reviews from other homeschoolers and talk to friends as well. So far, I have about half of the stuff picked out for next year, LOL.

yeah, check out the home schooling forum here :)

other than that, I just want to say...you don't need a load of curriculum for K...really, you don't :) You can teach K and even 1st on practically nothing!

And to piggy back on Tara's post there are more FREE resources available on the internet for that age/grade group than any other out there...
