Any preggo mommies having trouble with this? I am...but it's hard to judge what set it off. I know all the typical things, but sometimes they are ok and and sometimes they aren't. Then of course I eat something mild and bland and have reflux because of that!
Any ideas on natural soothers?

This sounds crazy but.. apple cider vinegar! I had heartburn with all my pregnancies. With my first I hadn't discovered the ACV miracle and it got so bad sometimes I had to sleep sitting up. It does burn going down, and for the first.. say 3-5 seconds it feels like your heartburn is 10 times worse but then gradually it gets better and better, like in a matter of seconds. I guess it acts as a neutrilizer to the acids. You only need to take a couple tbs's and you can wash it down with something if you have to, but personally I would try to tough it out.. I think its more effective. I also think that ACV works as a preventitive measure. I take it once and a while even though I haven't got heartburn just to promote healthy stomach acids.. I noticed when I did this for my 3rd pregnancy my heartburn was much much better. It could have been milder for that pregnancy anyway.. who knows?
I've been having it since, oh, 6 weeks!! sigh. Never thought it would start this early. *shrug* Hasn't be horrible yet, and I just take a Tums if it gets really bad. ACV.....apparently its good for lots of things! lol

I am not pregnant right now, but I would get it bad too and I found a glass of milk sipped slowly would help me.

Kate, I am in the same boat as you are!
I haven't really taken anything but tums. staying away from spicy and fried foods. and sitting up for at least an hour after eating helps.

I had it sooo bad I thought I couldn't make it both times from day one through delivery....all that would help me was MILK...I needed to buy my own cow! Really weak made chocolate milk by the tumbler after each meal and before bed...and sometimes in the middle of the night!

Thanks for the advice, Ladies! Tums has helped. I am just confused why I sometimes can eat tomato based casseroles, etc and have no problem and them I have eggs for breakfast and need tums! It's so weird...Juice is terrible, so I drink water instead. Milk sometimes helps, but if it's bad enough, it doesn't do any good.
I'll keep the ACV in mind.
thanks!

I forgot to mention to make sure the ACV is "with the mother". I honestly don't fully understand what that means but I do remember that being stressed in the health book I read this out of. If you have a local health store they probably carry Braggs Organic Apple Cider Vinegar With The 'Mother'. Braggs is a Christian company, there is always scripture verses on their products. Anyway, give it a try.. it really works!
