From the things I have read, only first babies 'drop' or 'engage' prior to labor starting. Is this correct? Then subsequent children engage as labor progresses...

The reason I'm asking is because I saw a friend today whom I haven't seen in about 2 weeks. She said right away, "Wow, your baby dropped!" I do feel her kicking my bladder more often, but I attributed it to her growth. Now I don't know what to think!

Well, the majority of seconds and beyond don't drop "as early"....but it depends on length between pregnancies and your body....I did drop both times with two years in between delivery...I walked around engaged and a 4 both times for 3 weeks at the end...delivered number one at 36 weeks and number two at 38 weeks.....

I must say that mine "drop" and I'm on number five here. I notice that they do drop into the pelvis, not like my first, but still they do *drop*.
