View Full Version : Leg pains

Does anyone else have leg pains that just hang around the whole time?
I do remember with the twins I would only get sore legs/knees if I stood up for too long but this time it all aches even in bed.

My knees throb and throb without stopping.

When I get the charlie horse cramps my calves hurt like a pulled muscle the day after.

mmm wonder if my midwife was dead wrong and the baby is a big brutus and that is why.
I am going to get her to check that one out on Wednesday (even though measuring by hand is far from accurate  )

34 weeks now YAY YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

My legs just feel like they have run a marathon constantly. And my knees hurt sometimes, not too often, though they crack a lot. My hips and ankles hurt the worst. I figure it is from the relaxin coursing through my body and I will be greatful my hips have been able to spread. I just hope they go back to where they came from. I don't want to have to buy all new pants.

One month from today is my due date. I hope I survive [crwy]

Yeh you are totally right it would be the relaxin.

Yes your hips will go back into place don't worry!!

I am not used to having a pair shaped bottom... I danced around my room once singing "Pear butt, pear butt" to DH and he thought it was hysterical. It also looks a bit like an avacardo hip and bottom LOL

Sometimes I look in the mirror backwards getting paranoid that I am developing saddle bags on my legs and that song "I like big butts" comes into my head ROTF.

Just from working in pathology I know it's normal to put on a bit of saddle bag etc to assist with carrying the weight of bub.

SOmeone was so sweeeeeeeeeeeet to tell me I had put no weight on, well my jeans conceil it well, when I am dressing, all I see is a big white pear looking at me LOL LOL

I was just excited the day I found I HAD a rear end. My little sis made fun of me constantly because mine was flat and shapeless. Oh well, I have one now. I just hope it fits into my pre-preggo jeans and pants not too long after Dainyah gets here.

I keep having these images of my hips totally popping out of joint and my torso sliding down between my legs to the floor while I am grocery shopping. Scares me silly even though I know it is impossible. Then, the image gets me to giggling so hard that I have to run to the bathroom. Hubby just rolls his eyes at me whenever I tell him that image comes to mind.

Being pregnant is so much more work than they ever told us it would be. I had no clue about most of the "side effects" of pregnancy, until I got them. And while this hasn't been a hard pregnancy physically, it has had it's moments and has been pretty uncomfortable. I don't want another baby for a long time after this.

Have to go and eat more antacids.

I had the worst leg aches and knee pain and charlie horses all throughout my pregnancy last time...I was teaching PE full-time so I was on my feet a lot, but I got rubbed every night which made life bearable for me....don't worry about the brutus thing...Ethan only weighed 6 lbs at birth! ...and talk about "big rump"...the secretary at our school actually had the nerve to tell me I was sure to have a boy since my backside was so unusually large! Took all I had not to turn around and smack her! ...it went away! LOL, thankfully!

08-20-2006, 10:20 PM
I have had some pretty bizare visions too... such as my intestines falling out LOL LOL

Also my whole insides falling out onto the floor along with the baby.

I cannot tolerate "relations" at the moment either, it's almost like turning inside out.

Sometimes I feel like Matilda is trying to burrow out the way she jams and moves her head down sometimes. When she's born, I should say "Hello Moley" (mm you know, as in wind in the willows)

Breezy - well I have a large rump and all the old wives say that means boy, but I am having a girl so :P old wives LOL.

Does anyone know what causes the Charlie Horses? I have told DH it feels like someone is grabbing my calf and twisting it.

Pain? YES!!! I could hardly even walk yesterday because my thighs and hips hurt so bad every time I shifted weight to one side or the other. My husband and I did a little research (well, hubby did because I figured it was normal, but he freaks out about stuff like this ) and we found that later in the pregnancy, the ligaments are stretching and the pelvis is softening to make way for baby. Makes sense, but I don't remember it being nearly this bad with Riley. However, I have heard that the second time around is always more painful.

...and talk about "big rump"...the secretary at our school actually had the nerve to tell me I was sure to have a boy since my backside was so unusually large!
I would've just turned around and "accidentally" knocked her over with my "unusually large" backside.

Many things. Sometimes it is a lack of calcium and magnesium. There is also a lot of pressure on nerves that isn't there normally causing the leg to spasm. Also there is a lot of weight causing the muscles to be weary! Also there is a huge need for extra water because you literally double your cardiac output, causing dehydration, causing muscles to cramp. Hmmmm amazing that they happen so infrequently. :D Big hug. You are almost there! Enjoy this time! It will pass all too quickly. Boy, I sure do remember though being ready to NOT be pregnant. LOL!

I wake up throughout the night because I have to turn over because my side will be dead. My pelvis/hip and thigh are extremely sore and achy so I have to turn over. It is really annoying because I can only sleep on my right side so when I turn over onto my left side I can only lie that way for a short time and then I have to turn back onto my sore side. :(

And I get the leg cramps...

But my legs and knees don't get sore/ache at night.

Leslie, yes I drink water like a water tanker, always been a big water person

I think it must be the nerves because I also have a great pregnancy multivitamin which my obstetrician told me to get which has pleanty of great vitamins including calcium and IODINE (which is VERY important).

Renee, I can't sleep on my sides for the same reason, it is agony I know.
My midwife said it was okay for me to sleep on my back on an incline, so what I do is propp myself up on a couch cushin with my pillow on top of that... so I am not flat on my back and then have a pillow under my knees. This is the only way I can sleep

You know on my millionth trip to pee last night I really had to think how great God's wisdom was in the way he arranged pregnancy because if we slept peacefully up until the baby was born it would be a RUDE SHOCK as far as night feeds and disrupted sleep were concerned.

I went for a little shopping trip yesterday and by the time 2 hours was up- my lower abdomen, my legs and knees were sore, but my hips just felt like they were going to give out on me... Usually after resting and lying down for awhile the discomfort goes away- but not last night... I think my body is telling me that laying around the house all day is a good thing. Going up and down the stairs is a major effort for me. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to morph into a beached whale.
Hubby is so understanding... he has so much on his honey-do list it's not funny.
d:)

Are you sleeping in a chair? Or in bed? The thing that irritates me is that when I need to get up in the middle of the night I have to climb over Paul LOL because my side of the bed is against the wall because of limited space in our room. So that is a mission LOL Sometimes he will stir and he'll move his legs but usually I have to climb over them and that hurts! :( And we can't swap sides because I can only sleep on my right side and he can only sleep on his left side and he gets smelly breath overnight and I don't want to be sleeping facing him [rofl] I can't wait to see how he copes when baby is born. She will be sleeping in our room and every time she cries and I have to get up I will have to climb over him which will wake him up if the crying doesn't which I doubt LOL He isn't going to get a lot of sleep. Unless I can shuffle to the end of the bed and pick baby up from the cot without getting out of bed? I'm not sure if that will work or not.

Yeah it's funny LOL

I know that feeling Danou. We had guests last night, which of course meant major cleaning yesterday morning and cooking, so I could hardly sleep because of the back spasms and saggy feeling in my pelvic region. That, coupled wiht a few very odd dreams and I am exhausted today. Hubby is at school right now, I have a list of chores to get done yet today while he is home (his days off work are Tuesday and Wed. He has class Tue-Fri. WE never get a total day off during the school year. At least this is his last semester!!!!)

At least I decided to just sit and be on the computer until the repair shows up to replace the filter in the heating a/c unit (he took out the old one two weeks ago and had yet to put in a new one) and fix the broken downstairs toilet. I was getting tired of having to go upstairs to go all the time. Especially since stairs and I are not currently friends. I wonder why we chose a two story duplex to rent?

danou - how far are you girlfriend?

If anyone is coming over for dinner from here on in either DH is cooking or we are buying pizza :D

With only 3 1/2 weeks to go until my caesarian (I have a medical issue) I doubt we'll have anyone around to be honest.

I am 33-ish weeks... it seems like my counters are all out a bit... I'm due on Oct9. So 7 more weeks!!!

I so want to get this house put together (we're reno-ing our basement) before kiddo comes and our energy and attention will be focused on babe.

I have put my foot down with my overly generous husband who said he'd be happy to build my friend a computer. Well I told him that if he so much as opens a package of memory before the baby's room is put together and our closet organizer is finished- he can go camp out at her house for awhile.

He's working so hard and i find it so frustrating that I physically am limited to carrying a partially loaded laundry basket. It's not fair- I want to be more of a help... however that window of opportunity passed us by awhile ago.

I didn't cook that much. I just threw the roast and veggies and stuff into the crock pot and let it cook all day long. The most I did was throw some squash onto the stove, add water to a biscuit mix and made a pumpkin pie (so I was craving it).

I went to two grocery stores today. The first one was a having a ten items for ten bucks sale and Peter went with me. I got so hot in that store I felt like I was going to collapse. So, I went and sat in the car while he stood in the checkout lane. Then, I go and drop him off at work and finish off the grocery shopping at wal-mart and got it all home. By the time I was done unloading the car, I was exhausted. Now, the round ligaments are killing me. I felt so terrible I couldn't cook dinner today. I still feel icky. And I have to pick him up after work at ten yet tonight.

This too shall pass. I just keep repeating that to myself. Just 27 days until my due date. Please Lord, let me go early!

Crystal.. that food made my mouth water... mmmmmmmm I am making a big beef roast tonight myself.

DH has really been praying for me a lot lately and although I do get leg pain after doing physical stuff or standing up, I have found that lately since he's been praying the round the clock pains have diminished.

Thanks Lord :D

mmmm pumpkin pie with lots of whipped cream... mmmm !!!!! I feel a craving coming on. Oh girl... it's after 11pm and now all I can think of is pumpkin pie. It's gonna be a long night! :)

All I wanted was a CHicken Monarco Pizza last night.

Today I wanted minute steaks so I ate some for lunch.

All I can think of at the moment day and night is juicy fat roasts with big fat veggies. LOL LOL.

I made a roast this week. It was incredible. All you need is cut a roast into serving sized peices, add two cans of tomato juice, a 1/4 cup of worchestershire sauce, carrots and potatos, throw it into the crock pot and let it cook all day long. It smelled so yummy. If you want a thicker sauce, you can add some tapioca or cornstarch to thicken it up. My husband loved it. I liked it too. It was great with candied squash (yellow summer squash with butter and brown sugar) and pumpkin pie for desert.

08-26-2006, 05:00 AM
I have never thought of doing a roast that way Crystal, might have to try it.

I just generally slash holes through it, smear garlic and rosemary all over it and in the cuts with some butter, massage oil into it comes out beautiful.
A bit of red wine is also lovely to tip over it.

Then I usually make a pepper gravy and adding a tiny bit of beer to it tastes delicious.... boil that up on the stove and throw it over the meat

Your roast sounds good. I like doing them in the crock pot because it is less mess and hassle. And less to clean up usually too (as if you want to do a lot of dishes right now anyway)

Hope you find something that satisfies your cravings. Right now, I want popsicles! Last night, it kept changing from one thing to the next so randomly. The foods weren't even related. Like one moment, I wanted chocolate, the next, french toast, the next I wanted battered fish patties!

I do need to finish catching up on here and then getting some chores done. I have to bathe the dogs, clean the upstairs bathroom and pack my hospital bag today. And I want to get the baby bath tub downstairs where I plan on keeping it and some diapers and stuff down here too. Along with a load of dishes and at least one load of laundry. I want a maid.

08-26-2006, 09:08 PM
Crystal you sound sooo busy. Are you nesting?

I was craving an olive and cheese platter last night but all we had were the Mars Bars I was craving for the past week LOL LOL.

Nesting, me? I havne't dropped yet, my cervix is soft but closed (no dialation yet) and when the midwife did a pelvic yesterday, she couldn't feel the baby from that angle, so not even engaged yet. But I do have 25 days until my due date.

This is all stuff I had been meaning to do for a long time. Just hadn't done it yet (been exhausted, cleaning up puppy messes and other things instead). Last week, I had to sit down and write out a list I could check off as I got it done (Peter's assignment for me). Well, I come out with a two page list, and quite a bit is checked off. My goal is to have it all done one week from d-day. I think it may be done sooner than that.

I got most of it done. I still haven't packed my bag. But the dogs have been bathed, I cleaned the upstairs bathroom, the laundry is in the dryer, and I got one load of dishes done. I have the dishwasher loaded to go again (after I draw water for a bath. I think I deserve one) and I want to strip the sheets off our bed and get those ready to wash tomorrow in the red load (I love my burgandy sheets. I can use them to fill out a small red load) That reminds me, I need to do the burgandy table cloth on the table yet too.

I just have to scrub out my fridge, vaccuum (I need to do that daily with my dog, but I don't.), declutter our bedroom and move some baby stuff around. And clean out my car and Peter's car.

Does it sound like I'm nesting? I've never nested before.....

08-26-2006, 11:27 PM
Yes Crystal honey, you sound like you are nesting
