Both my litttle ones have broken out in red spots, they have a couple around their face and then most are on their bottom or on their leg? Does anybody know what might be causing them?
They are slightly raised & it seems like some might have burst!?

Hmm...were they near woods? I know here it is tick season so...The only red dots our kids get are from hives which they only get when they get mad and scream. I wish I could help you more. ~Kerri

They burst?? Chicken Pox start as red dots... swell up and look like liquid filled blisters... burst and the ooze then crust over... and if it were to be chicken pox you would have a mixture of red dots, blisters and crusted dots because a new group shows up I believ every 8-12 for a couple days.

Have you switched detergents or soaps or have anything else that is new that might be irritating them? Stephanie

yes, I would agree that it sounds like chicken pox. I hope it's not though. the last time my kids broke out is was because i switched detergent...

Does it look like pimples or blisters? Maybe a trip to the doctor would help?

Allergies? Chicken pox? Irritation from something?

I'd keep an eye on it, and if any more pop up, check it out with your doctor.

Hopefully no more will appear!

It is more like pimples than blisters, if it were chicken pox wouldn't they be itching and just really uncomfortable? They don't seem to be irritable or anything! We were at a friends house at the weekend and she washed some of our kids clothes so unless it is something to do with the different detergent?!
What does hand and mouth look like? If that is the right name?

I thought it was foot and mouth, but maybe that's the animal one :?

Have they been rugged up really well against the cold? If so, maybe it's like a heat rash thing, or just not enough air circulating around their skin :?

Keep us updated!

If it's a rash it should be done multiplying in a few days. I found this great site for info on chickenpox.
http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/chicken_pox.html
"...viral infection that causes a red, itchy rash on the skin...appears first on the abdomen or back and face, and then spreads... The rash begins as multiple small, red bumps that look like pimples or insect bites..." It also says, "NEVER use aspirin to reduce pain or fever in children with chickenpox or certain other viral illnesses." My husband had chickenpox a few years ago. We never went to the dr., just oatmeal baths & calamine lotion (and a week off work :) ). If this is it at least they won't get it again! [thumbsup]
Hope this helps. Good luck.

My good friends' son had a similar situation- it turned out to be bed bug bites; when she had moved to a new place, they had been there, though undetected- not long after, I saw on the news that there has been a huge increase in bed bug cases in the last couple years, probably because of the increase in world travel... I actually never knew they existed outside the little "good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite" rhyme.

In people it is hand/foot/mouth. A kid will get a very sore mouth (some so severe they quit putting anything in it for a while) accompanied by blisters in the mouth most times. Then, the hands and feet get a blister-like rash. Sometimes on the rear end. You don't have to get the blisters in the mouth or the rest of the body, sometimes just in one place.

Here's what the CDC says about it:

Hope that helps. HFM is a very common childhood thing. We had an epidemic of it last year at the preschool/daycare I worked at. It spreads fast, so you are warned.

I would also suggest to check the detergent that was used on the clothes. My sister would break out like that when she was allergic to the detergent my mother would buy. Also, have you added a new food recently? Might be that. I had a friend who would get blisters and break out in a similar sounding rash whenever she ate tomatoes or bananas.
