I am going to get one but which one...anyone have one? Tips, ideas? They seem so heavy but definitly a necessity for our family. Thanks!

i saw these cool ones where the older toddler can stand on a back platform and be pushed around while holding onto a handle bar... They were pretty lightweight and not bulky like 2 seaters. However, the kid has to stand, which can get tiring on very long outings.

example, although this isn't the only model out there:

Edit: I guess that one has a small seat for the older kid after all LOL

one thing to keep in mind is 2 seat-er side by side vs. in a line. I think (although never used since I only have one) that a "line" seat-er, one in back of the other would be easier to maneuver in stores and closed quarters.

I have looked at a lot of them and I definitly want a front and back one and it has to have cup holders for both kids and mommy:) I like the Graco where you can put the car seat in the front or the back, both seats recline and both have sun shades. I thought about the one where they can stand. Thanks for the link, Cheese

I did a lot of looking around before dd was born. We ended up with a side by side Maclaren Twin Traveller. (Be careful though....not all Maclarens are appropriate for a newborn....not all fully recline.) I have LOVED it. Not as bulky/heavy since they fold like an umbrella stroller. This one has no trouble with doorways being too narrow, like some side by sides. The only drawback to this one, is that it won't do snow. Once there is a buildup of a few inches, the wheels jam up, because they are small. But that truly is my only complaint.

At Christmas we were gifted a used Valco baby. It's a 3 wheeled single that you can buy an extra seat for that attaches to the front. (Ours came with....although ds doesn't ride all the time anymore.) I am really liking it too. It does a great job in the snow. Easier to push than the Maclaren, I think because of the large wheels. But it is harder to steer with two bigger kids in it, and the older child can sit, but not recline like in a typical tandem stroller.

I have a friend who has a sit/stand....I think it is the joovy mentioned above...she likes it, but also commented that it is harder to steer than a single. But then, I don't think there is a double out there that will be as easy to steer as a single. If there is, then I would be interested to know what it is! :D

Peg Perego side by side aria twin is AWESOME and light and still sturdy! A cheaper good alternative for a side by side is the Graco duorider, which I currently use. I like the basket space in the side by side since the front to backs have baskets under the kid's feet, they are basically useless...also, the front to back is harder to steer, although slightly easier to go through some aisles, but the doubles side by side have never given me a problem in stores. They both fold flat and are good easy folds and fit in a car trunk easily as well as larger vehicles too. The big plus of the Peg Perego over the Graco....child trays, lighter weight, a bit narrower, better baskets. The big minus of all side by sides though is that they aren't baby carrier compatible....but I snugglied mine until 4 months anyway, so it wasn't an issue for us.
I use the Schwinn double jogger with a swivel front wheel for walking outdoors and think it is undoubtedly the best stroller I've ever used....so light and easy to push...definatly go with the aluminum frame and the swivel wheel option for any double jogging stroller, it really makes a difference in the pushing!
A sit and stand double stroller is fine if you have an older child who doesn't want to ride much longer or likes to start walking and then ride some...but they are just as bulky and heavy...but a good option for all ages. The baby trend sit and stand with parent tray is a good stroller.

We're sling people here so...but once Goob 2 got bigger we got a Ditto Dreamer jogger. Used it a handful of times and sold the thing. Bought a wagon (both are now sitters) when Goob 3 came along (he rides in a sling). Now we are looking a a single umbrella stroller once Goob 3 is bigger since the other 2 consider themselves "big now Mommy" and don't wanna ride in the wagon much anymore. Not much help am I? Good luck on whatever you decide. ~Kerri

when my youngest was 6 months old(and ds was just over 2) we had to give back a graco duo glider that we had borrowed from a friend. we bought a baby trend double jogging stroller ( although neither one of us runs) we LOVE it. the seats are side by side, but each seat weight capacity is 50 lbs. we still use it today although the kids are 4 and 3. we like the large wheels the go though anything, and it folded up much smaller then the graco one.
