View Full Version : We Survived!!!
Last night Dh and I woke up at about 1am to the bed and doors rattling and shaking. It was an earthquak, magnatude 5.2. It lasted for about 10 seconds. We thought it was the cat scratching itself by the bedroom door or something. We realized the cat couldnt have been moving the bed too!! (half esleep trying to work all this out, lol). I have to say it was very cool. Has anyone else ever survived an earthquake?
Britain's largest earthquake in nearly a quarter of a century has left one person injured and a trail of damage.
The magnitude 5.2 quake hit just before 1am today and was centred near Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. Its effects were felt as far away as Wales, Scotland and London.

I saw this on foxnews lastnight and thought of you. I'm glad to hear your ok!
I have experienced one earthquack and survived.. it hit in Seattle, WA.. I was in Nanaimo, B.C., Canada. I cannot remember what it measured but it shook me enough to wake me up. I thought a big truck had drove by and shook the house. It was pretty neat, my brother was on the phone with a friend across the water in Vancouver and his friend said "do you feel that"? Then a moment after he said it my brother felt the shaking. Cool how there was that few seconds between the time it hit.

Gen I am glad you are ok!!! I went through an earthquake when I was 10 or 11 in Oklahoma.... it was not very big but it did rattle the house and our TV was on a rolling stand, it almost fell off except that I was able to catch it LOL.

[rotfl] I'm sorry i'm not laughing at you Gen, just surviving an earthquake sounds so funny to me! Being here in SoCal having earthquakes is just the norm. I forget that in other places of the world it's not and may seem frightening or out of place. ;) I'm so glad you are okay my dear friend! ((HUGS))

Nessa, you crack me up! [rotfl]
Gen, I saw that on the news, too. Thought about you and wondered how you liked your earthquake. I hear you guys don't get very many of them. Pretty fun, huh? I like a nice little earthquake every now and again, just as long as it's not too big. It's really good for the earth to let off a little steam every so often, otherwise we'd have to worry about one big explosion from built up pressure (there's a human/spiritual analogy in there somewhere. lol!).
We had a 7. something years ago. It was a big one! That one scared me. I couldn't get to my kids, no way, no how. Impossible to take even one step. It was during the day and they were all up and playing in different places in the house, upstairs and downstairs. It was very loud, so they couldn't hear me yelling to them. I sat in a doorway with my arms over my head, scared out of my mind, and if I'd never prayed in the Spirit before, I surely did that day. I have No idea what came out of my mouth, but I'm sure it wasn't English. LOL!! [rofl] Total desperation. Words failed me.

we had a very small one about 6 years ago. We wouldn't even had known about it, except a picture, one of those large ones from Home Interiors, you know, with the big magnolia flowers on them, yeah, it fell off and landed in the bed with us, LOL
Otherwise, we would have just tried to figure out why the rest of the pics were crooked, LOL

Wow, I didn't know that they ever hit over there so that is interesting!! I will have to ask my mum if they had any tremors in N.I.?
When we lived in Northern Ca. we used to get a few but very small! I remember waking up one night, thinking it was a truck on the highway and found out in the morning it was an earthquake on the coast!
I dont think it got as far as Northern Ireland. It touched scotland so maybe Eva felt it and Zoey will have. I couldnt imagine what you described Joy. Whoa. scary. And cheers Nessa for making fun. lol. It was meant to be funny. it woke up dh and I but the kids didnt feel a thing. lol. it really was just a baby one. Dh and I thought 'Is this the Big One!!' roflmbo!! just kidding. It was fun. My mind kept going to the fact, yeah that was fun but anything bigger and people get hurt. Thats not so funny. anyway. cool thing to experience.

It is neat that you got to experience something exciting like that without the devastation! :-D
