Yep, just a week ago my doctor called and said that the test results came back positive for RSV...he said it was a mild case and we haven't had any treatments or difficulties with it but Jonathan did have several coughing fits and some sinus congestion with it....

Anyway, we were just getting over that and now we have thrush! I noticed yesterday he started slacking on his eating more and not taking his pacifier as much...now today he is alot more irritable and not really interested in eating as much. AND I have it in my nipples...I have been sore and irritated for about a week but was hoping it wasnt thrush...but no avoiding it now! [sadashamed]

Anyway, they are giving us Nystatin and we'll see if that works...I also have a friend sending me some Gentian Violet as I can't get it around here! We used it when Nathan was little and it worked GREAT although it did stain...I was okay with that because it worked! We'll see if the Nystatin works...I hear it can upset little tummy's and he is already irritable...but it will take several days for the GV to get here so we'll see...

Anyway..thanks for letting me vent this out...I just was so like...what next! My dh says January was the best time to have a baby...but I am not so sure with all the sicknesses and stuff...I know thrush isn't "catchy" but it just seems so IRRRRRRR...anyway...lets just pray Abi doesn't get it because she really like to have Jonathan suck her finger! Yeah...she has been saying her bottom hurts for two days...I'm thinkin' not a good sign, but we're watching that!

Okay...enough..thanks for listening!

When treating the thrush....."rough" it up in the mouth with a warm washcloth...it my be uncomfortable for them, but it really helps to knock off the white stuff and get the medicine right on there! Good luck! Ugh, hated thrush...and RSV, scary!

is your ds on nebulizer meds?

If you do any steroids on the neb, you should always wash the face and flush the mouth with really warm water. We usually give them a bottle/sippy cup after the treatment (Pulmicort). We've been there with the RSV and thrush!

Oh, man, thrush is no fun! The Gentian Violet worked great for us...hoping that it or the Nyastatin does the trick for you.

Dear Lord,
Please put your hand over little Jonathan and heal him, I pray. Help him to have a quick and speedy recovery from the thrush and RSV and to continue nursing like a champ.
Thank you for hearing this prayer,
Amen.

thanks ladies...it means so much that you all care so much!

Rach - we are not on the nebulizer...or any treatment for the RSV at this time...we are to just watch him and make sure he doesn't get worse then a cough...if he starts weezing or having difficulty breathing then we have to go back in for treatment but we have been very blessed so far that it hasn't gotten that bad!

Thanks again ladies for your support and your prayers!
