So Josh has always been small for his age and I am (somewhat) ok with that. (I tend to beat myself up about it even though I know I am doing everything I can) At his last dr apt. he was in the 25th percentile for head circ. 15th percentile for weight and 5th percentile for height. We have our 6 month check up next week and I was curious about where his weight would be and I went on babycenter.com and plugged it in....he is BELOW the 5th percentile for weight now!!! I am so freaking that they are going to say something bad about me or my baby. I know he is little and I have looked at my baby books and he is growing at a slower pace then I did but not by much (I am 4' 11) I just don't know what to do. I see a Lactation specialist once a week still, with her advice we started him on solids at 5 months 1 week (which did bump with growth a bit) I just don't know what else to do. I look at his weight and think, he is the size of a 1+ month old (he weights 12lbs 15oz) I don't know what else to do. I am stressed out with this.

I'll pray for peace for you, Becky, and for Joshua to have a nice growing spurt. [hug] Most of these things really do turn out to be nothing to be concerned about, and with you being little yourself, maybe that really is all it is. I'm praying for you, sister. It can be so agonizing worrying about our babies. I bet we've all been there, more than once.

XOXOXO

My Abby has always been slender. She still is. She's tall though and has always been above average in height (she gets that from her daddy), but weight wise she has always been below average. I never worried bcuz my mom said when I was a baby I was built the same way, except for the height. If your 4' 11" then he's probably just built like you. I think Abby was like 14lbs+ at 6 months or something like that. I also have a friend who's daughter is 2yrs+ (probably more like 2 1/2yrs) and is still in 9-12month old clothes. She's tiny, but my friend is tiny too. So she just gets her build from her mom. Not every baby is gonna be textbook. Praying for peace in your heart.

I don't know if it will make any difference but my dd was only 17 pounds when she was a year old and she was on formula from 2 months on. My pediatrician just said that some children grow slower and some grow faster. She was checked every month for her weight and as long as she continued on her own "curve" then they weren't concerned about it. Praying that everything goes well at his doctor's appointment. Please keep us posted.

I don't have advice, but definitely praying for adorable Joshua and your peace of mind!

Oh Hon don't beat yourself up. Like the other ladies said it is not your "fault". Most peds just check to make sure they are continuing to follow THEIR curve (no sudden drops or increases). Our first goob has always been in the 25th percentile...for EVERYTHING, our 2nd Goob JUST hit the chart at age 2 for weight and is in the 1 percentile for height and this Goob? Well..he's a GIANT in comparison. None of them are ill or deficient. And I am sure that is the same with your wee one. Again...as long as he is following HIS curve/chart he is probably a happy and healthy babe. Will keep you in prayers. ~Kerri
