At the end of Dec. a close friend of mine was in a bad car accident where her dh and endest dd ended up in critical condition. Her dd was the worst off and was in the hospitol for nearly a month (she's actually back there now because of fluid/blood build up around her heart) so, many of her family and friends (including myself) spang into action to help around the house, with rides, and at the hospitol. Toward the end I spent more time at the hospitol. The daughter got MRSA while in the hospitol and long story short I'm conserned that we might have it (me and Brandon). I've been doing some research as to what it is, what it looks like, and what I need to do if we do have it. Conventional medicine is to either drain the boils or give a regiment of strong antibiotic that aren't guarentied to work so, I began to research natural cures and have found some helpful information. I'd like prayer about this as I hope to have B. and I tested this week to know for sure. Also, have any of you had any experience with MRSA and/or knowledge of natural cures that would be helpful to me. I'm pretty calm right now as I think that this doesn't have to be a dissaster but, geez what a pain in the butt it would be so, yah, please pray. -ren

Hon, MRSA....IS very scary...you need to get tested ASAP....and stay quarantined until you know you do NOT have it!! Scrub and clean everything daily...hyper-vigiliantly! It is drug resistant in a lot of cases and takes a LOT of rounds of antibiotic "cocktails" to have any improvement......it can be very dangerous! Get a hold of your Dr. today and tell them your suspicions and get tested today!
Make very sure you do not go around anyone else until you know you are cleared....it spreads like wild-fire in the right settings...

MRSA is antibiotic resistant staff infection that is highly contagious and hard to stop or treat that is running crazy in hospitals...very scary stuff!

My doc takes a holistic approach when possible and is also a great chrisitian. I had spoken with him about it this fall as there was quite a rash of incidents locally for a while. He explained that if caught and treated early it generally was not overly serious. But I think the key was 'early'. I'd get in quickly. Will be praying for you guys!

gamommy- that was my impression after reading and researching. . .that it didn't have to be serious if caught early. After e-mailing and researching I've discovered that there are 3 essial oils that when put in the air in a confined space with MRSA- 2 of them killed it almost instantly and one of them was effective over time. They are taking it to clinical trials now and hopefully will have more info soon.

Brandon and I got tested yesturday and I'm just waiting to hear the results. I found out from the mom that I was wrong. I thougt she had soars at the wound sites but, have since found that it got in at the wound site and settled in her lungs. . .releiving that was not. While helping the daughter I several times touch rags that she had coughed muchus on to get rid of old ones and get new. AND I did this with bare hands. Well anyway- we've been tested and I'm not mad if we have it. I'm catching it early. God' grace is big. -ren

Thanks all who prayed. I got Brandon's results back the day after the test (last wed.) and PTL, it was negative! But, mine was still in progress so, I waited, and waited and finally heard back today. Because I had soars in my nose they wanted to make sure there was nothing there. I guess that the test showed something but finally concluded that there was no MRSA. So, YAY! We're both free of MRSA and what ever is in my nose seems to be of no concern and it seems to be getting better. I went to see the family the other day cause I had some stuff for the girl. She had caught strep and was very sick. . .so far we're not. I had no idea she had it as I wouldn't have gone had I known. please, pray for the girl- she's pretty discouraged. Going through this with the family has given me a new perpsective on serious accidents or illnesses. I hear about serious problems all the time and pray for them but, get on with my life and think of the people from time to time or maybe not at al again until I hear news of how they are. But, going though this I realize how much it changes the lives of those in it and how long the recovery is. It goes far beyond the enicial accident and they need continual prayer and help. It's really given me a depth of understanding I didn't have before and I think that one of the areas of growth it's caused is in praying for others hopefully more effectively. Anyhoo, just rambling about what I've learned from all this. The family needs prayer so, if you think to. . .thanks -ren

I'm so glad you're okay, Ren!! [hug] I've really been praying for you guys.

It's so sad what your friends have had to go through. Sure does give you a fresh perspective about life, doesn't it? I was hurt in an auto accident about five years ago. The next day, a woman my age (mother of three) was killed in an auto accident in the exact spot. I was completely blown away by the feeling that life can change in an instant, and it so easily could have been me that didn't make it, leaving my babies without a mommy. Rocked my world.

Love you, my friend.
