Does he do it at the same time every night? It could be more of just a habit than a need for food if it is. I have heard that if it is habit you can do something. I will try and find the info I am thinking of.

Have you thought about moving him to another room?

Maybe he's not getting enough to eat during the day. I read that somewhere when my babies were little. Try giving him a little more during the day and see if that helps. Stephanie

cant move him to another room since we r living in a 1 bedroom..we are moving into a 2 bedroom this summer but i want to break him out of the habit before then. i normally try to give him dinner before he goes to sleep and take hjm a bath too..should i try a binki instead?

Oh no, I wouldn't try a binkie if he's not addicted to them now. Those things can be hard to break kids from so I wouldn't try to get him to take one in the case he could get hooked.

My mom always tells the story of how I woke up crying every night until I was a year old. She finally told the pediatrician and the doctor said to just let me cry. Well, one night I cried, went to sleep, and slept through the night from there on out! Do you think that might help you?

Have you tried giving him a little stuffed animal to hug?? My daughter started sleeping with something at 8 months

yeah i was thinking the binky might not be a good idea..i took it away from him at 4 mths..he found a new one my mil had given him and just bites on it then throws it around.

as far as the crying..my dh wouldnt like that a bit...i've tried it...if it wakes my dh he gets irratated at me for letting him cry...

he used to sleep with this stuff cow but doesnt seem to like it now..i'll try it again though..

i think one reason he may be waking up is because he's diaper gets full..but that also may be cause he sleeps w/a bottle...

sometimes i think i'll be a walking zombie  till he goes to college..lol

You said he sleeps with a bottle (only water, right?). Maybe you should try to wean him off of it at night. OR I've read it's good to wean from a bottle to a cup around 12mos - oh, I just found a site...(didn't check it out yet)
http://www.robynsnest.com/weaningcup.htm
If you can do this maybe a sippy won't be as tempting to drink at night - no wet diaper - more sleep for you all!

Is he still sleeping?

I have a few ideas that might help someone...you mentioned the wet diaper thing...well we (my sil &I) have talked about it and we put the size larger diaper on at night. So if during the day he wears a 4, then at night put him in a 5. Gives them more room to fill.

You also said you couldn't move him out, but what about putting him in the living room or something like that. My son was not sleeping at night at all, and then one night I just decided I had had enough and put him in a different room and he slept straight through 9 hours, and then 10 and then 9 again and has continued to this day. (hoping he continues). I think it was that he would hear us, and know that we were just right there so he would cry. I tried the crying it out thing and I am a firm believer in that but it didn't work in this case. He only slept once he got his own space.

My other idea was going to be spacing and length of naps. Whether he was taking two or one.

I sure hope that he is still sleeping for you but maybe these things can help someone else.

Glad to hear he is sleeping now!

I'm a firm believer in CIO too. The only time I ever had problems with Abby not sleeping was when she was teething. But she has always been a good baby... slept through the night at one week old. (she was formula fed though)

hehe sorry..wel ds decided yesterday that he was going to wake up at 12ish..and sit up and make noises by jumping up and down on his butt to make the mattress make noise..and doing his lil squeal and talking to himself and making himself laugh..this went on for an hour or so..i finally got up when dh nudged me to get up..so ds finally went to sleep but only when i stood there for like 15 mins patting him and goodsny his hair..and i had to make it completely dark cause i notice he'd move more and talk more when the night light was on...
