View Full Version : Hubby Has NAMED The Baby!
I told DH he had to name this one, as I've come up with all the names for the others and he liked them, so we stuck with them. THIS time, it was up to him. :) I thought it would help him bond with his non-son, daughter, too. :) Here is what he picked!
Eliya Naomi L.
Eliya - God answered - Hebrew
Naomi- Delightful - Hebrew
There are two variations of Eliya that I like, Eliana and Elsa; both mean about the same, God Answered or God is Satisfaction.
I'm pretty settled on these. What do you think?
Naturally she would be abbreviated to Elli...
What do I think?? What do I think??? I'm thrilled!!! I figured he wouldn't come up with anything until she was actually BORN and then it would be some last minute "make do" name! :) WOO HOO!!
~Tara~ 02-07-2008, 10:15 AM aww
that's just so cool that he came up with her name ahead of time
and a beautiful name at that...it sounds so 'rich' and 'elegant' and 'feminine'
LadyLavender 02-07-2008, 10:29 AM LOVE IT! What a gorgeous name!
Just to make sure I'm understanding it right- is it pronounced...
EL-LEE-YAH or EL-LIE-YAH?
Either way- I think it's just beautiful
You know I really don't know, because hub sent the email last night before he got home, and he's still sleeping... so I haven't gotten to ask him yet... but I'm just glad she has a name!!! Ha!
BlessedMommy 02-07-2008, 10:51 AM That is a beautiful name! I'm impressed that your hubby came up with it.
I like Eliana just because I think it's the easiest to pronounce!
Beautiful name!!!!!!!!!
kanaclark 02-07-2008, 11:06 AM ROFL, Jen, your little babe has a name but YOU can't even say it yet, that's too funny.
But on a serious note, it's gorgeous. and there is nothing wrong with being called Elli. My aunt used to call me Ellie Mae when I was younger b/c of my southern accent, LOL.
love2bmommy 02-07-2008, 11:35 AM I love it! That's so sweet that your DH came up with it! With both our babies (yes, we have our second one named already, too :-D ), if it's a girl, I pick the first name and he picks the middle name and vice versa for a boy.
savedbygrace 02-07-2008, 12:20 PM absoluetly perfect! I think that is such a beautiful name and I love Elli. Too cute and perfect for this specail little girl! Way to go daddy O![clapping]
What a perfect name! I love how it sounds and that it is different!!!
PianoMama 02-07-2008, 02:35 PM **insert pouty face** I'm jealous!! We've been agonizing over a name for a while....I know it will come.
But, so happy for you! Since you asked, I'm not too keen on Elsa - it sounds like an old maid to me. :-) But, I like the others. Nickname of Ellie is on our list too!
Way to go!
Oh Jen, that is such a beautiful name! I think I might have to steal it if I ever have another girl. Way to go hubby!
DoubleH 02-07-2008, 03:17 PM That's a beautiful name - my cousin named her baby Eleya kate. I'm impressed your husband came up with such a nice name. and that you trusted him to! :-D

Hub says it's pronounced Uh-lee-yuh... you know... like the r&b artist... ha... ANYWAYS... there we have it... Eliya... I like the fact that I can CALL her something now... I've been calling her, "The baby", "She" and other such stuff, nice to have it settled finally. :) Thanks gals for your posts!
