Abigail is apparently dealing with fluid in her ears which is common for children with cleft palates. ENT made it sound like the only thing that will help is tubes which will go in during the palate surgery on March 18th. Any ideas on how to help her sleep at night while dealing with this? We've had her crib mattress elevated since we got home so need other ideas. zzzzzzzz

has no one dealt with this?? we're on night #2 of crankiness; not sleeping and haven't slept much the past month so need sleep!!!
Did tylenol and then 4 hours later Motrin, waiting the 6 hours (4 more to go) until tylenol again. I had someone suggest sudafed but with a snowstorm dumping a foot of snow on us we weren't able to get to the store for any.
Please pray that she will be relieved of pain, go to sleep and stay asleep so we can sleep. Not sure how many more sleepless nights I can take. sorry. zzzzzzz

We haven't dealt with the palate issues, but Bri, our middle did have fluid issues. The tubes, in his case, were the only thing that would help. He had the tubes put in and his sleep has improved a million times over.
As for "getting by" until then, if possible, work in shifts. That's about all we could do. When he had the sleepless nights, Brian would stay up with him while I napped, and then we would switch half way through the night. Granted, neither of us got much sleep, but God carried us through somehow.
Another thing, and kinda off topic, You guys are doing a wonderful thing. I worked for 3 years with a pregnancy center, and we had many, many adoptive parents who refused children who were any less than perfect. God has blessed you with the hearts to do this, he's blessed you with a beautiful daughter. Satan will try to attack you in any and every way he can. Trust in Him, and he'll take care of everything.
Love and Prayers,

when my oldest was younger she had a ton of ear infections, and our ped told us to give her dimetapp at the start of the infection. He told us there was an ingredient in it that helps to keep the tubes open and draining more. i'm not sure if it is one of the items that they took off the shelves for kids. hope that helps.
