View Full Version : Hope I don't go into labour... 08-10-2006, 09:08 PM today  Paul accidentally took my house keys to work this morning and I'm locked inside the house. So I can't get out unless I break a window LOL 08-10-2006, 09:19 PM Renee  that has happened to me when I was housesitting with a friend. She went off to church locking me in the house nursing my migrane and I couldn't get out ROTF. I had to call her brother to ask him if there was any hidden keys in the house which I could let myself out with. The brother laughed his head off and I was so humiliated ROTF. I really hope you don't go into labour either, well if you do you willjust have to get Paul to come right back home. 08-10-2006, 09:23 PM Yup and hopefully he would get here before the baby! [rofl] 7thHeaven 08-10-2006, 09:29 PM today  Paul accidentally took my house keys to work this morning and I'm locked inside the house. So I can't get out unless I break a window LOL NO WAY!! OMG-ness!! I hope you have a baseball bat near by! I can see it now...[rofl] 08-10-2006, 09:30 PM [rofl] actually I have my dads old Police baton  [rofl] I'm sure that would do the trick   Crissyanna 08-10-2006, 09:48 PM You all need keys to unlock your homes from the inside down there? I had never heard of that before. Here, your house locks with keys on the outside, and on the inside they have like switch things. I think it is against the law here for an inside locking with keys. In case of a fire or something and people not being able to get out. 08-10-2006, 10:54 PM You all need keys to unlock your homes from the inside down there? I had never heard of that before. In case of a fire or something and people not being able to get out. I don't know the laws here... but with our lock it locks from the outside or inside with the key. However if you lock it on the outside (that's what Paul did this morning when he left for work) then you can't flick the latch on the inside. You need the key. If you just flick the latch on the inside to lock the door then you can open it again without a key. Unfortunately, I am not up when Paul leaves for work so he has to lock it from outside. stephwhiz 08-10-2006, 10:56 PM I'll be praying that your water don't break today  ! I can see it now on your local news "pregnant woman locked inside home--fire departement had to rescue her." ha-ha  . Stephanie :D 08-10-2006, 11:01 PM LOL Well I would probably deliver the baby before they got into the house [rofl] Seriously, if this labour is like last time ... I wouldn't even get to the hospital in time. I'd deliver in the Ambulance! ChamomileFriend 08-10-2006, 11:02 PM You all need keys to unlock your homes from the inside down there? In case of a fire or something and people not being able to get out. I was wondering the same thing. It doesn't matter here if dh locks it from the outside or I lock from the inside, we can always get out from the inside, so we can get locked out but not locked in. It is so interesting to learn it is different in other places! (edited to correct sentence structure) 08-10-2006, 11:02 PM Maybe I should ask my midwife how to deliver baby myself? [rofl] My uncle delivered their last baby... and the midwife got there just in time to cut the cord LOL I'm sure I could do it! 08-11-2006, 04:40 AM You can either lock the doors with a button and just leave it or lock the deadlock which locks you in from the inside. You actually aren't supposed to deadlock yourself in, but in Australia you are required to deadlock doors when you go out incase you get broken into... if you are robbed and the deadlocks aren't locked (preventing robbers from leaving with your stuff...supposedly) insurance won't pay. We always deadlock the front door when we are at home, but we also have 2 other doors which are just click locks you lock with your fingers because it's unsafe to actually completely lock yourself in without exits. I find the front deadlock actually invaluable (it's a keylock like Renee's) because the twins can open the front door to anyone if I don't keylock it. BUt we have the other two doors just flick locked so we can also get out in a hurry. When we go out we keylock the other two doors for insurance purposes. Thank you for explaining that to me! 08-12-2006, 02:20 AM You can either lock the doors with a button and just leave it or lock the deadlock which locks you in from the inside. Yeah unfortunately Paul has to lock it with the key when he goes to work in the mornings because I am not up that early LOL But we are going to get some spare keys cut and I'll hide one somewhere inside incase this ever happens again LOL  |
