Need more advice!! We're planning on using Elizabeth as a middle name. With that in mind which first name/s do you like and why?

Amelia
Genevieve
Larissa
Charissa
Mia
Aimee
Alyssa
Laurel

Some of our previous names we liked...we scratched...

hmm

Well...I don't dig Alyssa Elizabeth..that just doesn't flow as smoothly to me. Funny though, how similar Charissa and Larissa are to Alyssa..yet, they work just fine.

Mia Elizabeth sounds ok, but almost seems it's missing something. KWIM?

Amelia Elizabeth..that one's growing on me :)

Aimee Elizabeth sounds good too..I'm just not a big Aimee fan, personally.

Hehe
So, um, there you go...my blunt, honest OPINION :p

I think my favorites are Amelia and Laurel. And they both sound good with Elizabeth.

Personally, I would avoid anything with "lyssa/issa" at the end with Elizabeth, in my opinion it sounds toungue-tied....
I like Mia best, then Laurel....very "old", yet chic!
I don't like Amelia because of the book series Amelia-Bedilia....I see her being taunted by kids with that name and then called that by adults as what they see as a cute nickname...I hated those books, so it would infuriate me personally! LOL

I definitely like Mia Elizabeth best. I really like the name Alyssa, but like the other ladies said, it doesn't sound as good with Elizabeth.

I vote for Amelia or Laurel! I think both sound classic. I like the name Mia as well, but not sure how it blends with Elizabeth. I personally don't care for Alyssa or anything ending in "issa" with that middle name.

I think Aimee sounds best to me. It just seems to flow better.

I think Laurel is really nice and a little different. But I actually really like Elizabeth for a first name too :)

I like Laurel, then Amelia. Have you checked out the census info. on name popularity? It is really interesting to see which old-fashioned names are making a comeback.

amelia also reminded me of Amelia Bedelia - not good.
I love Laurel Elizabeth - I've always liked Laura, and Laurel is a different take on that. The names really go together well.

Okay...don't laugh but when we chose our kiddos names we yelled them. Because latley these days (especially in a store) that's how they are used.[rofl] So...yes...I "yelled" each name in my head. And I'd choose Laurel (even Lauren sounds good). There's my why Mama. Don't know if it helped...or just plain scared ya but...;-)

I like Genevieve and Amelia. I also like Laura or Lauren but not Laurel.

I loved the Amelia Bedelia books when I was little, though - are those books still taught in schools? We don't use them at my school. If they are not taught in your area or you are homeschooling it won't matter.

Amelie Elizabeth is cute, too if Amelia is too, um Bedilia.

Great suggestions! Thanks so much. When we picked out ds's name, I yelled them around the house too! It really helped me.

DH finally came up with a list he likes, here it is:

Gwendolyn/Gwendelyn/Gwyndolyn
Gwenyver
Gwenyth
Genevieve
Morgan
Muriel
Meriel/Merielle
Darby
Crissa
Darcy
Kerrianne/Kerrianna
Rosslyn
Meredith/Meredyth
Caressa/Carisa
Paige
Brooke
Lillian/Lily
Brielle
Camille/Cami/Camillya

Webster5...I'm crackin' up! That's awesome how you "tested" the potential of each name! LOL

I think this is a great test! At one point or another you are going to be calling (yelling) for them to come and you have to have a name that you can use some volume and gusto with.:-D

yeah and to ensure it has the proper added 'umph' when the middle name is added when they're REALLY in trouble :p

Ok...
How do you pronounce Brielle (bree-elle)? (I have a cousin Brianna (I keep thinking there's an 'h' in hers but I can't recall where...we're not exactly close and we never use her full name, it's just "Bri" (bree) so that's why I automatically say Brielle with the long 'e')

Paige Elizabeth is nice.
Morgan Elizabeth is fine too...but Morgan is rather popular ... I think took a spike within the last few years ?? If that matters any to you.

I really like the names Gwendolyn, Genevieve, Lily...I just don't think they work so well with Elizabeth. (of course, you know, this is just *my* personal opinion...everyone has their own view of what 'flows' well and what doesn't :p )

Lillian Elizabeth might work. Lilliana? Or is that going 'too far'?

Or, jumping back to Brielle...Brianna Elizabeth works (and no, that's not my cousin's middle name...that would be Gwen :p )

I like some of the 'B' names but our last name starts with 'B'. Would this stop any of you? My dh doesn't seem phased with it...is it just me??

Tara - yes, Bree-elle. Kinda like Gabrielle with out the 'ga'.

I don't like Morgan. Paige would be ok if it weren't so popular. But I could see doing Elizabeth Paige.

I kinda like Lilliana - Lillian to me is a bit old sounding...we have a very dear friend with that name and she's 90-something.

We're not narrowing these down - the lists keep getting longer!

I have a great aunt named Genevieve and I like that name. I also kind of like Lily and Merielle (very pretty name). I like the Gwen..... longer names just because I like the shortened Gwen.

I like Elizabeth Paige too.

I wasn't sure what you were thinking there...keeping Elizabeth as a middle..and that was that. Or if as a first was a viable option, with the *right* middle name.

None of the others were hitting me reversed.

So...why not GAbrielle ? Just curious. Not yet sure what I think of it with Elizabeth LOL Just asking since you mentioned Brielle being pronounced *like* Gabrielle w/o the 'ga' :p

Well, here the thing - I want to use Elizabeth.period. Most likely it will be a middle name, but I'm ok with it being the first name too if we find a suitable middle name, like you said, Tara.

Newest names added to the list:

Shaelyn/Shaylyn
Shayla
Shayleigh/Shaylee

Well, I post them on here so I can get some feedback, real opinions, ya know? Sometimes for me, it helps me to decide what I think when I hear what others think.

As for turnin' yer crank, Tara....*grins*
