When my milk finally came in Jonathan started spitting up right away...which was fine, but what is really weird is that it often comes out his nose! [whatthink] [whateeeeeksign] [whatblah]

Has anyone else had this problem? I hope he outgrows this...I have noticed that it happens less when I keep his head higher during nursing but it is still happening some.

I did mention it to the nurse over the phone and she didn't seemed too worried, just said to keep an eye on it and mention it to the dr when I saw him next...

can anyone tell me he WILL out grow this? [prayer]

My ds did this. He ate really fast and if he choked it would come out of his nose. Also if he spit up a lot it seemed like it happened. One thing that really helped was burping him multiple times during a feeding. Probably 4 or 5 times. Than he wouldn't get such a lot of milk on top of an air bubble. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, I'd say he's probably just trying to eat too much too quickly. Try what jen said and burp him a little more frequently during feeds and work on keeping him more upright.
Yes, he will outgrow it. When? I dunno. But likely fairly soon. Gotta remember, he has a lot of adjustments going on now, having been in the womb with all of this stuff taken care of for him for so long :p

Thanks ladies, I'll try the burping thing...that might help keep him awake more too...he is a real sleepy baby...but what can you say for only being a week old...

I agree it might be the too much milk too fast thing as I have LOTS of milk and you can hear him gulping it down...so that might be the key...thanks again.
