View Full Version : Things I need to stockpile?
Crissyanna 08-07-2006, 08:00 PM Since most of you on here have had babies before, I thought I would ask this question.
About how many packages of pads should I expect to need after the birth of the baby? I was wanting to start to stockpile now so I won't have to go to the store for them when it really won't be convient, or send my husband who can never get the right ones. I had been thinking of trying cloth pads after this, but I don't have a sewing machine and I don't relish the thought of stitching those by hand at the moment. My knuckles have swollen quite a bit with the heat we've been having.
Thanks! And is there anything else I should stockpile? I am kind of clueless in that regard. I do have several cloth nursing pads. And I've gotten some free samples of disposeable ones in the mail and at the hospital during the birthing class we went to, so I think I'm good on those.
breezykc2 08-07-2006, 08:16 PM I would reccomend the pads that are cloth feeling covers instead of the plasticy feel ones due to possible stitches you might end up with, they pull and stick less and I thought they worked much better for comfort. Definatly use overnight and get extra long with wings.....then back down to heavy after about a week....still get wings and extra long due to possible stitches and all! I got one large pack of overnights and one large pack of the heavy and then a box of pantyliners for later.
I would say that within reason, you can't overstock on pads. I mean, you're going to get AF back again one day, right? So, any that you don't use after bubby is born, you can just put aside for later. For the first few days, you might go through quite a few - maybe one every couple of hours for the first day or so :o It does slow down however! :)
After your milk comes in, it can sometimes take a few days to settle while your body works out how much your baby needs. So, you might leak a bit. Or, like me, you might leak a lot  Like, through the nursing pad, through your bra, running down your tummy [rofl] I'd be feeding from one side, and the other side would just be a continuous leak [rotfl] So, you might want to make sure you've got a good stack of those, too [thumbsup] .
Crissyanna 08-07-2006, 08:46 PM Thanks.
I knew about getting the long cloth-like covered pads. I have the added bonus of being allergic to the kinds wth scent, and odor abosorbing stuff in them. And of course, my favorite brand and kind in that brand put odor absorpers in them. Don't want to deal with that one. So, I guess it will be a hit and miss trial to find something decent......
I was thinking of getting a box of disposeable nursing pads just in case, you know? To keep in the diaper bag or my purse for when we are out someplace. I haven't been bad leaking yet, but I know I do sometimes. I don't want to look like I spilled a gallon of milk on my front if I do end up with a lot of leaking.
Thanks again. This whole post-pregnancy planning is kind of overwhelming me right now for some reason. Must be the hormones.
stephwhiz 08-07-2006, 08:48 PM It sounds like you're well on your way to getting ready for the baby! I would buy an extra box of pads just in case. With ds I only bled for a few days but with dd I bled a week or two so you just never know. Now the nursing pads are great too. Best of luck! Stephanie :D
love2bmom 08-07-2006, 09:04 PM Our hospital actually provided the best pads. No sticky tape they were real long and held a lot of mess [whatblah] . They allowed me to take as many as I wanted, I had severe hemoraging so I bled an extreme amount. I also had third degree tears... yuk. But all was well within a week.
I am surprised that you are leaking already. Oh baby when your milk comes in.. it is such an awesome thing. Just always be sure to keep a good support group. You are always welcome to PM me anytime with nursing questions.. nothing is ever over the top.
My hospital supplied all the pads I needed too and that little squirt bottle for cleansing, oh so nice! I would have to agree you probably have no idea how bad the leaking can be the first few weeks....Don't wear anything valuable until your body's acting half way normal again...I lost a lovely satin blouse due to milk staining  Best thing to do is buy your nursing pads at Walmart in boxes and keep the receipt...If you have any unused boxes you can always take them back and buy diapers later on  Thats what I did...My little angel measured preemie and was born quite large...so I do not recommend stock piling diapers like my shower guests did me
I have got myself about 5 packets of pads in my bathroom cupboard, and I also recommend LONG with wings (such as the bedtime ones) for the hospital as when you are laying in a bed... well - you know?
I plan on stock piling more because I have no idea how long I will take to dry up this time ... although, it is quite different for a caesarian Mum because even though you still have the regular bleeding it's not actually heavy because the doctor does quite a bit of cleaning out before he sutures up.
You know what else I stocked up on CHEAP underpants for just before and after baby. I got about 6 pairs for 8.00. Some people even recommend disposable underwear.
mmm not sure about the nursing pads, I got 12 washable so I hope that is enough ??? Anyone???? I am leaving mine in the packet sealed up incase the b/f doesn't work out like last time.
One of my friends Caroline said her body went haywire with milk and she actually put a disposable nappy in each bra, fortunately this settled down for her
kanaclark 08-07-2006, 09:33 PM with this being your first, you may bleed heavier than most of us who aren't rookies anymore. think back to before your pregnancy and how many pads you went through during a normal period and I would say maybe three times that many. You may not need to change that much, but after being pregnant and having no AF for nine months, you'll likely feel icky after just a while and want to change more frequently than you really need to.
Oh, and looks like the race is on to who delivers first! I'm due the 23rd!
Crissyanna 08-07-2006, 10:28 PM Kana- I didn't realize we were so close to each other! I am so praying that mine comes on her due date. That is my husband's late father's birthday.
This whole thing with stockpiling makes me feel a little funny. Growing up, we had a neighbor who would buy cases of slimfast and ketchup and just store it in his garage for "just in case" though he never used either item.
I figured I would be wearing my maternity t-shirts for a while after giving birth. I've been so clumsy being pregnant that most of them have stains on them already  . That, and I've been wearing my husband's t-shirts because they fit better over the maternity jeans.
I guess three or four packages of pads for me. I eventually want to switch to cloth, but I don't want the hassle of that one with a newborn. Figure I'll have enough laundry to get used to.
Thanks all. This has been enlightening.
I bought the really thick absorbent maternity pads. They only come in like a pack of 7. I think I used almost 4 packs. I only bled for three weeks but I have heard of a lot of women who bled for much longer ... like 6 weeks. So you might need more than 4 packs. But I would probably just get about 3 packs and then when you almost run out go and get more. That way you won't be wasting money.
Renee - I bled for longer than 6 weeks, not saying this to scare anyone BTW... I think it was from having twins because I was certainly checked out by doctors and was fine... they actually said it was normal.
It would stop for a few days and then begin again so I had a hard time distinguishing when I should get back on birth control or not, and even after some time when I went to be reviewed and ask for my birth control again, the doctor was like "and you are SURE you have stopped your after baby bleed and this is your period"
So while after having a caesarian you don't really have that heavy after baby bleed, you still do bleed -
My sister said she bled so heavy on the first day, she said she was standing in the shower and she freaked out a little but the midwife said she was normal and all was as it should be.
Well I'm glad I only bled for 3 weeks. In my baby book it says 14-21 days. I thought 6 weeks was crazy. Obviously it is normal.
breezykc2 08-08-2006, 08:00 AM my breasts leaked from 4 months til' delivery of my first baby....then I could never nurse! My milk never came in even with pumping with the turbo machine from satan every 2 hours for 30 minutes on each side! It took me 24 hours of doing this day and night to pump 4 ounces! The La Leche workers and My OB finally told me to give up after a month of this! So, it can go either way!
Yeah I've been leaking since very early on in this pregnancy too. And I had the same thing last time and then I don't know if it was because I wasn't feeding often enough because she wouldn't latch on, or whether it was just me... I couldn't pump more than about 10-50mls at the most. Hopefully this time is different.
Breezy - I can identify with what happened to you!
UGG pumping one boob, holding one twin on the other trying to get even a pathetic amount of colostrum out... the same thing happened to me!!!
I remember days and days into this and the Midwife came in to check and I just said "I HATE THIS! I can't do it" - I think they were a bit relieved I came to the conclusion myself... I would watch the clock until it hit 3hrs and the dreads would creep over me.
Are you ladies meaning your boobs are leaking milk or just colostrum?
I have had colostrum since 16 weeks but I can't say it's really LEAKING as such, but there is bits and pieces of it on my bra just not enough to put a nursing pad in. I just wash them.
Yeah just colostrum here... it's yellow with the occasional white streak in it.
I don't have to wear nursing pads either. But sometimes I hate the wet feeling and when your t-shirt sticks to your boobs HAHA
Godzgirl 08-09-2006, 12:06 AM Both times i had my babies they supplied the pads for me. And it was at different hospitals so more than likely they will supply the pads for you. They are the maternity pads too so they are the really big ones. By the time i got home i didn't need those anymore what i used were the always overnight ones.
As a general rule hospitals in Western Australia don't supply pads or anything for new Mum's, I know one time when I had an impromptu unplanned visit to the hospital after my caesarian they DID supply pads, but generally we are expected to buy our own, it's on our "what to pack in your bag" list.
Not sure about this hospital I am going to as yet because a friend of mine had her baby yet and she mentioned "filling up her tray" and I assumed that meant of baby goods/pads etc.
Crissyanna 08-09-2006, 01:35 PM I had never heard of maternity pads. I've never seen them in the store, so I guess I can't get them around here.
It sure is interesting with what hosptials do and supply you with depending on where you live. I know mine supplies diapers for during your mandatory two night stay (ick. And they moved the emergency chopper landing pad to right outside of maternity too. Great planning or what?) and no where on any list I have seen from the hospital or in books and magazines does it say to even bring pads with you. Who knows.
I have a b/f class on the 17th. I might ask when I go to that as it is at the hosptial. Though, if it is anything like the prenatal/birthing class we went to on Saturday there, I really don't expect to learn a whole lot. That was a waste of a day, except for the free stuff they gave us in goody bags. And even then I'm not sure the eight hour class was worth it. We did watch videos on regular birth (the one I saw in high school biology class covered more), one on a c-section birth that about made my poor husband sick, one on the admistration of epidurals that made me squirm (thanks, I don't want anything inserted into my spinal column. Gave the heebie jeebies) and then a baby care video that was so corny. I was told that they give out free stuff at the b/f class by a friend who went with her first, so I might go for the three hours. Maybe I'll learn something that I hadn't read about before.
Now, to just get motivated and pack my bag for the hosptial. But, it is still a little early yet for that one. I'm just at 34 weeks today. And no signs of dropping or anything. Which is good for right now. Hard to believe that my due date is six weeks from today. Three more weeks and Dainyah isn't considered pre-term. Kind of scary. But exciting.
I need to get going. I have a mountain of laundry to do.
kanaclark 08-09-2006, 03:12 PM Crissyanna, we're in the same boat with the packing. only thing is, I've got three bags to pack, one for each boy and one for me and dh.
I've started dropping a little, but this is number 3 for me.

They supply them here in NZ ... well at least they did at the hospital I went to... but I had no idea where the nurse put them in my room so I couldn't find them LOL I had packed my own so I was ok...

Well Sophie is due in only 17 days and I still haven't packed my bag or Abbys. I was meant to do that ages ago... like around 35-36 weeks. I hope I don't go into labour early! Because I probably won't be ready! Even though I've been wishing that it happens early because I am so uncomfortable.
I also have a mountain of laundry... :(
I have all my stuff gathered up besides shampoo but it's not really in a proper bag yet (the backpack I got out is way too small)... it's stuffed and hanging out of the too small backpack waitng for a proper bag.
Decided to do it early since last time I ended up having the twins early and you never know, even though it will probably "never" happen. I was just caught out a couple of times when I had to be in hospital without my bag etc. I am almost 33 wks...
Oh when the baby drops, let the bladder games truly begin LOL LOL
Has anyone noticed their appetite has decreased around this time?
I am assuming it's due to the baby consuming so much space. I had lost weight at my appointment (in the past few weeks), but I have still put on 8kilos or so... so no one was really concerned.
Also noticed the wedding rings getting tight
BlessedMommy 08-09-2006, 09:26 PM Oh when the baby drops, let the bladder games truly begin LOL LOL
Oh, boy, do I know that one! I'm pretty sure that the baby dropped this week. I told DH that I may as well pitch a tent in the bathroom. LOL.
Either that Ruth, or buy a lovely box of adult diapers ROTF!
I remember well in my first trimester Josh actually had to pull over on the side of the road a few times so I could "GO" in the bushes (there were no toilets around and we were out in the country)

That has already happened here! LOL  I was actually leaking this morning when I was sitting on the lazy boy chair and Abby was pressing on my tummy and Sophie was pushing on my bladder ARGH! And I'd already emptied my bladder! Obviously not fully.

No I've actually been hungrier and thirstier lately... and also more tired! I think Sophies doing a lot of growing.
Also noticed the wedding rings getting tight
Yeah, I am making sure I am stockpiling heaps of water inside me
Don't want to get an irritable uterus now.
Crissyanna 08-10-2006, 03:47 PM I know what it is like to stockpile the water! I gained ten pounds at my five month appt, got chewed out by the midwife (and I knew I was retaing the water. My wedding band has been on a chain around my neck for close to five months now). Only gained one the next month. Now, I am going every other week, and as of Monday, I gained eight pounds in two weeks. However, the heat index has been way over 100 and I know I am bloated from extra water. I get like that when it is hot, and Peter was bloated too (he couldn't get into a pair of pants like what happens to me with my period).
I get up at least three times through the night to go. And of course, it never is very much because Dainyah loves to pummel the bladder to make it feel fuller than it is. I can't wait until she drops (though, I've been carrying pretty low, so she won't go too far until it is out) so I can breathe again! I miss breathing.
I don't want to pack now since I don't know what the weather will be like in a month or so. Sometimes it stays hot here until into October. Other times, it cools off in early September. I don't want to have to repack the bag. Granted, I don't really plan on taking that much (if I don't pack it and decide I need it, I can always have Peter go home and get it. We live ten minutes from the hospital. Which is good since fast labors run in my family and I plan on laboring at home as long as I can before going). At least I just really have to pack stuff for me. And food for Hubby for while I'm in labor and food for me for later. Or to sneak while I'm in labor. I have low blood sugar, and they don't let you eat anything but ice while in labor. Peter is like, when your sugar drops, you get very cranky and irritable, then you cry and get a migraine. Not looking forward to that one on top of labor. I told him we stay home as long as we can before going so I can eat.
Crystal - my sister told me not to buy maternity pads anyway as they are really thick and she said they are a waste of money and you just need regular (she had a natural birth with stitches, so she was advising for that).
The spinal block may look gross but it doesn't hurt - it was either that or be completely put out when my babies were being born - no thanks I wanted to be awake!
a lot of my friends told me that birthing classes were a waste of time, they felt that the midwives showed them videos of the worst births they could find and just put unessesary fear into them. After their babies they all made that comment. However, a lot of people find them beneficial!!!
Crystal - my sister told me not to buy maternity pads anyway as they are really thick and she said they are a waste of money and you just need regular (she had a natural birth with stitches, so she was advising for that).
I don't agree ... she must have not bled much. I HAD to use maternity pads. Regular would not have done the job. And I had to change them so often. At least I had to use maternity pads in the first 2-3 days... after that the bleeding wasn't as much. Probably could have used regular or super then...
Crissyanna 08-10-2006, 09:55 PM I guess I'll get a package of overnight pads. They are the thickest you can buy over here. I use those regualary with the monthly anyway since they hold more and don't feel as wet as fast. I hate that feeling. I am one of those people who changes those things every hour or more each month. I just can't stand the feel of them.
I think I need to go and eat some yogurt and leave a little early to get Hubby from work. I haven't been walking too much this week and I can walk around the store for a while before he's off. I figure it is safer to walk in there, especially at night. Though, my hips are starting to feel like they are going to pop out of their sockets all the time now and it makes me feel weird while walking. Just five weeks and six days or so of this, I keep telling myself. I can last that long. Hopefully, I just have enough stuff stocked up for the big day and the bag packed......
BlessedMommy 08-10-2006, 10:02 PM Oh, let the fun and games begin! :) My midwife checked me today and my suspicions were correct. The baby was so low that she could touch the head (at 0 station). No wonder I've had to live in the bathroom lately!
As far as stockpiling, it only works if we don't use up the stuff we stockpiled! LOL. Hubby and I had to promise ourselves that we would refrain from eating our labor snacks that we bought! It was such a joke, because the midwives said to buy our food for labor a month in advance, but when we have good food in the house, we tend to eat it up, so we have had to replace it several times. So far, I've gotten ice, string cheese, popsicles, juice, and italian ice. I'll also probably eat up some of the cottage cheese in the fridge or have some crackers, depending on where my appetite is.
Fortunately, the non-edible birth supplies have stayed around much better. LOL. :)
Crissyanna 08-10-2006, 10:08 PM Ruth, I was praying your munchkin had arrived. Soon and very soon, I expect to hear you are a mommy.
Well, I don't need the pads yet! I am not worried about going through those before the baby gets here :D . I will have to go out and buy snack food for Hubby for the hospital. Probably beef jerky or something like that and trail mix. Though, he goes without eating much better than I can.
BlessedMommy 08-10-2006, 10:23 PM Yeah, we're hoping and praying too! Thanks so much for your prayers. The midwife said that I was about 75% effaced, about 1 or 2 cm dilated and that the baby was in anterior position. Everything looks great! So it'll come soon and I hope that it will be before church this week, so I won't have everyone at church asking me about it! LOL. :)
I know what you mean about not going well without eating. I would get pretty cranky if I had a long labor and couldn't eat or drink also. Sounds like you have a great plan as far as staying home for a long time before going to the hospital. Should work out great for you! I'm sure that Peter will appreciate you getting him snacks ahead of time. :)
Well, this kiddo will come when it's good and ready! I just hope that it gets good and ready soon. :) :)

LOL  We never ate anything during labour... we had dinner at about 7pm and I delivered at 4:34am the next morning. I didn't feel hungry...
I'm not going to pack any snacks this time. If I get hungry there is a cafe and a snack machine at the hospital so I can just get Paul to go and get something from either of those places. I have a ton of stuff to pack as it is... not sure I'd have any room for snacks LOL
As for babies head... I'm pretty sure it must be that far down too. Because it feels very different down there now  It feels like my insides are just gonna drop out at any second. And I'm always on the toilet too.
I am definately taking snacks to the hospital because I remember a few times feeling hungry during hospital stays and my family bringing me food.
Will probably take change for the drink/snack machine too though.
Well I've started getting bags packed for the big day! I bought a pack of disposable nursing pads, Lansinoh, 2 packets of maternity pads and a pack of 48 newborn size diapers. Oh and 2 bottles of J&Js top to toe wash. And a travel size pack of wipes.
Still have to get some more stuff...
Crissyanna 08-12-2006, 02:25 PM You have to take all the baby necessities to the hospital? That stinks. They have it there here. When the baby is in the room with you during the day, they stock up the bottom of the little cart with diapers and stuff to use. Wow, I never realized how different places can be.
I need to get going. A friend of mine (who is also very pregnant, due a month from today) and I and her sister are going to a candle party and then a clothes swapping party. I think it is going to be fun. I'll let you all know. I love the idea of a clothes swapping party. What we do, is we take clothes we no longer want or wear, and we all get together and trade. There are going to be other preggos there too, so we are taking some of the maternity clothes we are desperately sick of. And some women who aren't having any more kids were planning on bringing their maternity to get rid of. Hopefully, I come home with something new. I am so sick of my pink maternity clothes (though, I've been such a clutz, most of my maternity tops have stains on them, so I can't take them, oh well, I am getting rid of a pair of pants that I had two of, and a very ugly shirt my mother sent me, along with a ton of pre-preggo clothes I haven't worn in at least a year or longer).
Crystal it does vary from hospital to hospital - but in some hospitals they won't even give you tissues! (Oh toilet paper is there though LOL LOL).
For instance Renee said she is taking her own baby bath products, those are supplied everywhere here...
I am going to actually SMS my friend who gave birth at RKDH and ask her what I need to bring...
cjropher 08-13-2006, 12:20 AM Do you have to go register at your hospitals? Here we are supposed to go a few weeks before our due dates and give them all the info so that when we come in in labour, they have all the info and can go from there. That's a time when we can ask about anything that we need to bring, etc.
I was supposed to go on Tuesday, Aug 23 last year and didn't make it, as we went to the hospital on Sun, Aug 21. I was released from the hospital on the 23rd actually. I got home and the labour and delivery room called me to ask if I was going to keep my appointment! Hello, I gave birth in your department 2 days ago! Oh, they said, we aren't caught up from the weekend. I guess not ROTF. I'm not planning on going back there anytime soon!!!
You could always call and see exactly what they give you. Here they don't have wipes, they use clothes but I don't like their cloths. They provide diapers (NB size) and you can take the whole package home with you. I didn't need much baby wise, they put them in their little outfits so I brought some bc I didn't like theirs. Other than that, I was good to go. They only keep you in for max 48 hours here unless there are complications. Lots of people are out in 24.

All they have at our hospital are cloth diapers and paper towels for bu** wiping LOL I don't like paper towel because it leaves bits of paper on their wee bottom and it's not exactly soft. They don't have disposables or wipes. They do supply baby bath though. I just got that for once we come home  because I ran out ages ago. We just use normal soap for Abby now.
They don't supply nursing pads or clothing for baby. They do supply Tylenol and maternity pads. And they have soap and toilet paper and towels but you have to bring your own shampoo etc...
No we don't have to register at the hospital here... I mean we don't have to go there two or so weeks before. My midwife just asked in the second trimester which hospital I was going to deliver at and if I was going to transfer to the local one afterwards and they just note it in your maternity book and they book you in themselves.
Jay - do you mean as in an admission form? We do have those....
I was supposed to have done mine LONG AGO... but I think mine was a bit of a different situation because I have to have a c-section and therefore am under a "specialist" who I need a consultation with soonish.
Hope he's not pompous ! The person who did my last c-section was really nice.
I love that picture of the horse BTW... my dream is to own my own horse and property soon!
cjropher 08-13-2006, 05:42 PM Jay - do you mean as in an admission form? We do have those....

Here we actually have to go to the hospital and up to Labour and Delivery and give them all our information a few weeks before the birth.
BTW, thanks about the horse. We have the property and maybe soon we will have the horse to go with it. That one's just a google image I found, I have no good ones of my horses from my parents.
Crissyanna 08-13-2006, 07:23 PM We just mail in our preregistration form here. And the dr's office keeps the ob floor updated as to who all to expect. The hospital did have a list of what all to bring in the prepared childbirth manual we got from them that they made up. I guess I'll just go off that and bring some extra stuff so I have my own, in case for some reason I'm allergic to what they have or something. We do have to bring our own bathing stuff, slippers, if we want, our own nightgowns and robes (though, with all the blood and stuff coming out, I think I would rather use theirs and not risk staining mine), we can bring in extra snacks for ourselves after the birth (the post-partum rooms here have mini fridges) and stuff like that. No where does it say to bring your own pads, diapers or anything. They won't let me use cloth diapers while we are there. Supposedly a sanitation issue. (it is a royal pain to use cloth in a day care around here. The parent has to provide a sealable container for each soiled diaper through out the day [like a ziploc or something] because it is a bio-hazzard). I do need to get some cloth wipes or make my own yet, but if I make my own, it is too early. I think I'll do that one in a few more weeks.
The hospital does dress the baby in a onsie (one with the hospital name on it, and sometimes ones that say stuff like Special deliveries happen at....). And which hospital you go to depends on which dr. or midwife you are seeing and which one they are through. And your insurance dictates whom you can see and which hospital around here. So, since I was seeing my midwife, I have to deliver at F hospital instead of St. J's. St. J's has no midwives practicing through them. They have nicer, more family friendly birthing suites, but I wanted a midwife. Next time, if we are still living here for the next baby, I might see if I can go through St. J's instead. However, most of the dr's on our PPO list are through F. All the peditricians are. And around here, none of the family dr's take children until they are five years old. And only one family dr. around here will even venture into delivering babies. I can understand the specialties, but what good is a family dr if they don't see all the family? They should know when to refer for a specialist if the need arises. Ok, that wasn't part of this thread. Just my vent.
I think I do need some lansinoh. I don't have any yet. I do have a good shea butter lotion. Could I use that instead? And I should cook up and freeze some meals. I don't know if anyone is planning on brining over meals after the baby or not. I don't think anyone at church has taken it upon themselves to organize something like this for anyone. I think I may start that, but not until after the baby is born. I don't want it to look like I started it for me to benefit.
Thanks a ton all. I do appreciate the advice.
Yeah, I have been thinking about cooking and freezing meals but Josh said that is uncessesary as he can/will cook.
He is going to be home for two weeks after Matilda is born so we may not have to worry about it... on the other hand on the first few nights at home it may be handy to have something pre-cooked???
What is everyone else doing?

I haven't heard of Shea butter lotion. If it is something that is safe to put on your lips then it should be fine. What does it say on the back of the tube? If it tastes ok and there isn't anything in it that would hurt baby then it will be ok.
Yes we don't have anything like that running at our Church either. In fact, no one has ever brought around meals for us after Abby was born. And I doubt anyone will this time either. We ended up living on microwave meals for a week or so after Abby was born.
Crissyanna 08-14-2006, 02:25 PM Shea is a bean that is real oily/greasy and they make lotion out of it. I dont' think it would be poisonous or anything. I have never put it on my lips, I use a beeswax/vitamin E lip balm. I could use that instead, it would be cheaper than lansioh, I guess. Just have to get the unflavored stuff.
I have to go and yell at the neighbor kid, excuese me.
I think Lansinoh will be better. But just because it supposedly is VERY good. It helps heal the skin fast. Like if your nipples get cracked then they will heal faster. I think it also stops them from cracking in the first place. Anyway, I've never tried it so I'm only going by word of mouth. But I've had tons of women recommend it as the best thing out there
LOL What do you have to yell at your neighbours kid for? You've got me interested now
Crissyanna 08-14-2006, 04:01 PM The neighbor kid (the youngest one) was outside my window blowing through a straw to make it whistle. It was making my dog spaz out something terrible. I get out there, and he is in the driveway whistling through his straw into the dirt in my driveway and getting it to poof up onto my car (the landlord mowed this morning, so I have dirt and grass in the driveway right now). Earlier this morning, he was tapping and dancing at the front window. Got Trixie so riled up, she knocked over the lamp we keep on the window sill and broke the screw that holds the lampshade in place. Hubby can fix it, we just need to get out the soddering iron (or buy a new one, his was on the fritz and I think he tossed it last week). Trix has broken a few slats in the blinds too because of the kids annoying her. Have to either get new blinds (broke three of the slats in the middle of the blinds. The blinds the land lord put in the window are six feet long, and our windows are half that size, so there is tons left over) or tell the land lord. Next time Peter catches the kid(s, it's mainly been the younger one today) he is having a talk with them. If that doesn't work, it is off the grandparents. Then, if that doesn't work, a talk with the land lord. We don't want to start a war or anything, but still.
Isn't Lansinoh made from lanolin? I would be scared of ending up allergic to it. I can't be around wool carpet or anything just called wool. I know I am not allergic to certain kinds (like alpaca, angora and cashmere), but anything that is a hodge podge of wools I am. Would that affect lanolin? Just curious.
