then I expected but my 1st ppaf showed up. exactly on Josh's 5 month b-day. Here is my question, how heavy is this period suppose to be? I have NEVER bleed this much before. I am bleeding through a pad within 3 or so hours. I have always had very light periods that only last 3 days and even after my c-section my bleeding wasn't very heavy. I am having a hard time controling the bleeding and feel liike I am getting blood everywhere (sorry tmi) So is this normal? I am starting to get concerned...I am going on day 3 without any let up.

I had light periods too untl I had kids. My first period after Brooke came as a big shock. It has got worse after each baby too! It does sound like your flow is pretty heavy but I don't think its anything to be concerned about.

Hi, Becky! :-D Your flow does sound a bit heavy but that can be normal. If you begin to see large clots, if the flow increases dramatically, if you begin to feel light headed or ill, or if it hasn't slowed down by your seventh day, definitely call your doc. Likely, it's only because you have so much lining to shed after all of this time of *keeping everything*, but if it gets worse or doesn't slow down relatively soon, then I'd call the doc.

*hugs*

After the birth of my third child my monthly periods began to get heavier and heavier. Not sure if Josh's birth was your first section or not but my doc explained that because internal uterine scar tissue accumulates more lining tissue c-secs can also contribute to heavier periods. My first pp AF also bothers me a bit. I had my first at the 8mth mark this time. I think what Joy said about excess lining accumulating also seems logical. If it continues more than 7 or 8 days or if it has large clots I would contact the doc for advice. Since having children#3 and 4 I soak through most anything in 3-4 hrs max (meaning I do have to get up in the middle of the night to change).

thanks ladies, you all made me feel better. Around 6ish tonight it seems like I am actually starting to lighten up. So hopefully I made it though the worst of it. I have never bled like that in my life so it was a bit unnerving. thanks for easing my mind.
