Went great! I have been having a "menstrual cramp" type of feeling but didn't think I was contracting or anything. My doctor checked me and said I was dilated to a full 3. [clapping] I know it's not much but at least I know my body is doing it's thing. He also said that he felt his head and it's pretty low :) Maybe nature will take it's course sooner rather than later, I hope, as long as baby is ready.

Just thought I would share, this was encouraging to me as I've been wondering if anything has been going on down there!

Wow! 3 cm!!! soooo cool! Did he say anything about thinning or efacement? Sounds like you could have your little one in your arms really soon! So excited for you...

Wow! I agree with Kate, sounds like you are really close to being able to hold your baby in your arms. :-D

Do you mean you were 3cm and THEN went into labor?! (Sorry this is my first full term pregnancy, it's kind of new to me). Sounds like a 3 is fairly good progress then?

He didn't say anything about being effaced, I should have asked but I kind of assumed that him saying "wow, his head is right there" that I would have to be thinned at least a little for him to feel it like that?! I dunno:???: He did say to make an appointment for next week just "in case we need it".

Oh! So exciting. You are getting closer! I remember with my first being so excited when I finally went into labour and a little scared, because you do not know what to expect, but it was wonderful. So great to know that you will soon be holding your baby. Praying everything goes well for you!!:-D

Thanks for the prayers and well-wishes ladies. After reading online it looks like I could be at a 3 for awhile?! We shall see what happens!

think of it like a pliable tube.....how far up and down the tube is squished is "effaced" (thinned out) and how far around the tube widens up is "dilated".....

I personally was IN labor and hit three centimeters... my water always breaks first, so I'm kind of an odd ball. :)
