View Full Version : 27 Week Appointment
PianoMama 01-16-2008, 10:51 PM I had a visit today at with the new OB practice I'm going to now. I'm still hoping that our insurance will work out a contract with our hospital so I can go back to my former Dr. BUT, until then I'm with a new practice that uses a different hospital (that's 45 minutes away instead of 15!)
I've gained a total of 10 lbs so far...not too bad, right?
My blood pressure was great.
She was a bit surprised to hear that I'm having Braxton Hicks already...
My fundus measured right on 27 weeks (I'll be 27 weeks on Friday)
I got an order for the *lovely* glucose test for next week. GAG!!
AND (drum roll please!), I schedule a 2nd ultrasound for next Wednesday!
How is everyone else doing with their pregnancies? I feel like I'm huge! Finally looking preggo for sure!! HA!
savedbygrace 01-16-2008, 11:54 PM Wow, 10lbs! that's great. I'm only 18 weeks and I already gained 7.5 lbs.
My U/S isn't scheduled until 2/21. I have an appointment this friday. But everything is going well! I'm going shopping tomorrow for some Maternity Clothes. I want to get a new hair cut.... and I need to start making some CD's and a wrap. But that's about it as of now.
plaid 01-17-2008, 12:50 PM Oh, Glad things are going well. It is always fun to have an ultrasound. Are you going to find out if your baby is a boy or girl?:-D
Doing good here. I have gained 3-7 pounds. hehee big difference I know??? I just do not know what I was to begin with? I get my dating ultrasound on monday. Yippee~ so excited! Have to talk to the OB at some point about my labour. I am higher risk for tearing because there is only six months between this baby and my c-section?? So hoping for a vbac, and praying for no callback after the ultrasound. Going good so far!:-D
Kathaleen:-D
PianoMama 01-17-2008, 01:37 PM Hey Esther and Kathaleen ~ glad to hear that all is going well with you two.
Have fun shopping for maternity clothes tomorrow, E, and let us know what you got! I heard that Old Navy was having a sale, but not sure if that was just our area or what...
K, hope your U/S goes well! Is this your first one for this baby? Are you going to find out boy or girl? This is our 2nd U/S because the first one the baby wasn't cooperating. The tech was unable to see several different parts of the anatomy. So, we get to go again! We couldn't tell definitively if it was a boy or girl last time, so we're hoping this time is different!
~cheers~
Fine here too... I'm 16 weeks and had lost ten pounds and have no gained six to ten pounds back... but my clothes are all really baggy... weird eh?
I have my "big" ultrasound on the 30th to find out if we're having a boy or girl! :) Glad to see you gals are doing well too!!! :)
plaid 01-17-2008, 04:43 PM This is our first ultrasound! My Dr. said she would send me for one when I saw her for my kids checkup, but then she forgot and it is pretty busy here so it took me 3 weeks to get an appointment, so finally. Yay! You are not allowed to find out babies sex in BC. I am fine with waiting, but is fun hearing what everyone else is having!

pioneerchristianmomof3 01-17-2008, 04:56 PM Ultrasounds are so exciting!
Where do you live in B.C.? I wonder if the not finding out the sex policy is from your doc. I live in Victoria, and the two ladies that I babysit for are both expecting, and both found out the sex of their babies at the ultrasounds.
BlessedMommy 01-17-2008, 04:58 PM Kathleen, you go girl! You can definitely do a VBAC! Woohoo! I've been reading a lot about c-sections and vbacs lately. Have you checked with ICAN? PM me if you ever want to chat more. :)
plaid 01-18-2008, 02:13 PM As far as I understand it is was illegal in BC to find out the babies gender? Here you can get around it by saying that you would be willing to travel to find out the babies sex and then they will tell you because they are worried about you suing them if you got in an accident. We are so close to the Alberta border that alot of people just travel there. Maybe they are changing things? I will have to ask on Monday?:-D
Thanks for the encouragement BlessedMommy! I am a good candidate because I was blessed with two natural births previous to my c-section and my c-section was strictly for baby. My one block is that I am at 2-3 times more risk for tearing because they are so close. I am not to worried though. More thinking of how that will change my labour. I am used to being free and I do not want to be stuck in a bed being monitored, but I guess you do what needs to be done. Thanks!

~Tara~ 01-18-2008, 03:01 PM Well, Kate, my fundus is measuring as big as yours and I'm 4 weeks behind ya ;)
All is well here. Lots of movement. Jabs and kicks, hiccups. Still can't 'baby map' worth a hoot.
I think I'm up 8#, last check. I forget. This weekend is my charting time..I didn't record anything for last week.
buttercup_97140 01-20-2008, 08:28 AM How on earth did you get so pg? Where did the time go? Wow! Glad to hear everything went well!
Why on earth would your OB nurse be surprised by you feeling Braxton Hicks? You start having them from the beginning, most women just don't feel em, but a lot of us do! I started feeling them around 20 weeks with Noah, 33 with Em. Just think, your uterus is doing some really good workouts! You will push that baby out in mere minutes! haahaa
Blessings my friend,
Amber
PianoMama 01-21-2008, 11:26 AM So good to see you back, Amber! I've missed you! I can't believe I'm 27 weeks either...it's very exciting. :-) How many weeks are you now? Ya gotta make a preggo ticker so I can keep track.
Hugs to you and hope things are going well!
