I am thinking about getting a new one one, our other one is very big and bulky for our little house. Any ideas would be appreciated, maybe what you have or what you have heard is good?
Our little guy is almost 7 months!

My DD is 7 months and seems to really enjoy her booster type seat that straps to one of the regular Dining Room chairs. They do need to be able to pretty much sit up by themselves to go in those, but it is sooo nice not to have the bigger, bulky one around anymore, and no extra tray to clean up!
ITA with Andrea. We also have a small house and I like the little ones that just strap to the chair. Easier to clean up, and baby is right at the table with you.

This is a good topic. I always wondering if the ones that strap on to the actually chair were any good. Thanks for the info ladies!
By the way, Jayne i can't believe your baby boy is already 7 months! Time sure does fly! My baby boy is going on 4 months in a couple of days! It felt like just yesterday that i was asking ya for advice.

I agree that those booster seats that attach to your chairs are awesome! My kids felt like "big people" when they used theirs :D . Stephanie :D

The booster seats are great. And they travel well, too! I think Safety First just came out with one that can be used from infancy (reclines). Don't know how good it is, though.

I agree with the booster seat idea - we haven't used the highchair for a while now. The booster seat is much easier to clean (plastic for easy wipe down and removable tray for washing) and much easier to take places (the highchair was a bit tricky to fold down). However, we have been just leaving it sitting on the floor (so that he can get into it by himself and I don't have to do any extra lifting at 6 months pregnant).
We actually use a BUMBO, it is far better than an actual high chair for cleaning wise and in a small space.
If you want to know what a BUMBO is do a search on the net or on ebay. THey are fantastic.
I really hate high chairs there seems to be so many places that grot can get into and I personally found cleaning the thing to be a pain in the neck, so we have kept one of our Bumbo's for the new baby.
They are also great to take on Picnics, visiting etc.

if we could afford it, we would buy one of these! http://www.stokkeusa.com/tripptrapp.htm they retail for about $200 but I found you can buy "B-quality" for only $150 at http://www.equipmentshop.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=234

Thank-you everyone, that was very helpful! I had kind of thought about the booster seat myself, I just didn't think it would work right now since he can't totally sit up by himself but I guess it would give him some support. I have seen those Bumbo seats, they are very cute but at this stage I don't really want to put the money into one of those, but my sister has one and she loves it for her little girl!
I have a booster type seat for Ethan right now, that is inflatable & it is wonderful, but Micah needs something more supportive. I think I will definitely look into the booster seats.
Soulmom the Tripp trapp seat was very interesting and looks like it is something that can be used for a very long time. Do you have one already and does your little one like it?

Aussie_Mum: we love our Bumbo! I ordered it from Britain, as I found them at one place in the states, and with price, shipping, and even import tax, it was cheaper to order from out of country. Think we paid like $40 for ours, US dollars.
Bri sit's in it to watch tv, eat, whatever. It's HIS chair, LOL
We also have one of those chairs that clip onto the table itself. he likes it, but only when we're somewhere else, not at home.
Bri either sits in his walker or his bumbo to eat, but we're one of America's typical families, and haven't eaten in the dining room in ages. We eat in the, you guessed it, the living room. I know, bad mama, but honestly, the kids eat better there, so we don't argue about it, kwim? As long as they eat.

no, though I really wish we could afford one. i have only heard great reviews of them.
Have to agree with the seats that attach to dining table chairs. You can actually get ones that are just like highchairs with the straps and all. Or you could use a carseat ... just put it on the chair and push it as far in as it will go ... I think it would be high enough that you could put their food on the table. You could tie it to the chair by tying cord/rope through the chair back and the alternate belt path on the back of the carseat
Now I'm going to go and see what Bumbos are...
You can also get material things that attach to dining table chairs. My mum has one that one of her friends made for her 20 odd years ago. It's totally machine washable. I've seen them on Trade Me. That's a NZ trading site like Ebay  I'll try and put Abby in it at some stage and take a photo. We use this thing when we have dinner at someone elses house. As long as their chairs don't have solid backs I can use it. :D
Ok this is on Trade Me which is a NZ website but this is basically what I have...

You might take a look at babeetenda.com We have their feeding table and crib and have no complaints at all. The chair reclines for infants who don't sit up yet. Also, when you are finished using it as a 'highchair' you can remove the tray with the cut out (for highchair use) and insert a table top with no cut out to use as a little child size table. The regular table top also flips over revealing a chalk board table top. It can also fold up for easy travel!! It's really cool!

We have the high chair that was mine when I was a baby. It's solid wood, impossible to clean and gorgeous! Sometimes I see one of those bulky plastic ones and think, that would work really well, but imo, they are ugly. I like my wood one for looks and it keeps baby in. I guess I just have to clean it!

Guess what I just bought a booster seat yesterday for $5.00. Our church is having a yard sale and I happened to see it in storage when we were helping to take a bunch of stuff over there and asked if I could have it. So I am pretty excited : ) We will see how it works, it was in great condition too!

I have a wooden highchair that can be a short booster, turn into a table height high chair that can use the table or a tray and then also converts to a toddler art table and chair if you want for later! I don't know the brand since I got it at a garage sale, but it's awesome and a little smaller than the deluxe graco one we have too.
