Well, the other kids still do this from time to time but boy oh boy is she terrible about it....

Instead of *asking* for something, she makes some statement/remark/comment which I am supposed to interpret as a question and thus answer accordingly.

For instance:
Comes out wearing her 'dress-up' shoes then comments "My dress-up shoes look really nice with my princess dress. So I can play princess with them."

What she meant was: Can I wear my princess dress?

Another instance:
"It's a beautiful day outside. It would be fun playing outside with the boys"

Meaning: May I play outside with the boys?

And it just goes on and on. Drives me crazy!

Anyone else's yahoo do this? Or do I just have freaks? LOL

I just want to shake them...just ASK your question, geesh! The worst that can happen is I say 'no'. And 'no' can't be any worse than no answer at all, because I completely ignore your 'request'. Really now!

Sorry no help. But LOL all the same! They know how to push our buttons don't they? !:-D

oh and she has trouble with 'listening' ... the times she DOES ask, she runs off before I even answer.
I mean, I can barely take a breath and she trots off as though I answered 'just perfectly'
After the above 'saga', we experienced the latter.

Ugh!

I give up. It's naptime...she's been REALLY *weird* today.

That doesn't solve my problem, but it gets us both a break and a chance to change attitudes :p

My dd has started telling me that I want her to do something instead of asking. For example around Christmas she would find a gift under the tree and walk up to me with it saying..."You want me to open this, don't you?" What she really meant was, "May I open this gift, please" but she turned it around.

I get this in a really whiney voice, if handed water she says, "I wish it was miiiiiiiilk." Or if I put one movie on it's, "I wish we could watch ___." Oy... Well... just *ASK* me for that, just don't whine!!!! oy!

I completely agree Jen! The awful whining monster has come to out house and I wish he would just leave! I know it is a phase but it is so nice when my daughter can put a sentence together without whining!

You are too funny Tara. I would rather my daughter beg me all day for something in a NORMAL tone then ask for it once in that WHINY voice. It is something about the tone that just sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me.
