I had an internal swab today and now I am really sore and spotting. I do not remember this ever happening before. I seem to remember her saying before that you might bleed after an internal?? Has this happened to anyone else? I do not feel cramping or contractions, just really sore around cervix/uterus?? This is my first time spotting this pregnancy.
Thank you
Kathaleen

I've not experienced this myself, but I googled it and this is what I found.
"The Pap is a gentle scraping of cells from the mouth of your womb. It is far, far away from the pregnancy and even the mild spotting it can cause has nothing at all to do with the baby. The cells are delicate and it's not unusual to have a little spotting for a day or two, so don't panic if this happens. "

Good info you found there Esther. (you deserve rep for that one but I don't think I'm allowed to give any more out yet LOL)
I was just going to say...I'm pretty sure that's all normal and that I wouldn't sweat it.
I hate internals! Just add that to my list of reasons for using a homebirth midwife :p
I'll dish out the rep! Good job, Esther... I hadn't ever spotted with a pap or exam... but I know lots of women who have...
ETA: It won't let me! Oy!

It actually was not a pap, sorry I was not clear. Thanks for looking that up Esther I am sure it applies to this as well. :-D I know I was not due for a pap. She said I had no need and she just works so fast and we were chatting and she was swabbing and now I am kicking myself for not asking. The only thing I can find is they swab your cervix to check for std's. Which I am not worried about at all. I started cramping tons last night, but no more bleeding. Now I am just sore again. I might phone and just ask what test it was?? I agree Tara it sure makes you second guess everything they do. I have never had a problem and she is really good about discussing whether I want something or not?? ~Thanks for the help Ladies.:-D

Oh sorry about that. I didn't know there was a difference. but you may have spotted for the same reason?
I did find this:
What can cause spotting or bleeding?
It's not always possible to determine the cause of prenatal spotting or bleeding. Because the blood supply to your cervix and pelvis has increased, it's not unusual to notice spotting after a Pap smear, an internal exam, or sex.
but that's all I found.
