so we are in New Mexico (from northern Cali) and it is SO dry here. Josh I believe is dehydrated dispite my trying to nurse constantly. His soft spot has a "divit" SO I want to give him some pedialyte. BUT the bottle says to consult the dr. before hand. Well it is Sat. and I don't feel like calling the dr. So I am wondering if any of you have given your baby this stuff around the age of 4 1/2 months???? Any help would be appriciated. I was thinking about giving him just an ounce. THANKS

gee, well, I'm no expert or anything, but I think I'd feel fine with an ounce of the stuff at that age
I'd just get the unflavored kind..because it has no artificial sweeteners ;) and just nurse nurse nurse that little guy as much as you can. And you keep yourself well hydrated too! :)

Just wanted to say yeah it's fine. I know that you already gave him some but i guess more as reassurance i just wanted to say that when my ds was about your ds's age his ped gave me the go ahead to give him some pedialyte when he got constipated.

Hoping Josh is doing better. My doc has always okayed pedia-lyte, but a bit of water would be fine as well.

Where in NM are you???? If his nose is really dry you can go buy some little noses saline drops. That always helped my dd. and I do the same for myself plus a humidifier. How long are you here for?

thanks everyone for reassurance.
savedbygrace, we are in ABQ. and leave tomorrow afternoon. I knew you were here in NM too but I came down with my family (sister, dad, stepmom) so it wasn't a *really* leasurely visit, otherwise I would have looked you up. Maybe next time we come we will drive and have more down time.
