a nursing pad called Lilypadz? I got two boxes for Christmas and I am very excited about these little things. I spent so much money on disposables when nursing dd, so if these work as well as the reviews say, i'll be saving a lot of money. They are reusable and so very thin! So have any of you heard of them or tried them? What do you think?

I tried them and they did not work for me. However, I have huge boobs. I have heard of other women loving them. I think when we have our next one I am going to get cloth ones for at home and disposables for work and going out and about.

Enough rambling. I hope they work for you.

rEally? Well the only time my boobs are huge is when I pregnant or when i am nursing. But my milk flow was alway really strong. So now I wonder if it will work for me.

I've heard good things about LilyPads but I've not used them. I just bought a couple brands from WalMart..I think I have Lansinoh ones ??
I want to get some wahm made hemp and/or wool ones. I hear those are great.
I'm a huge leaker! Must.wear.pads! But I hate the disposable ones and don't want anything too thick and bulky..you know.."hey look, she's wearing pads on her breasts!" LOL

I've never used them either, but I always wanted to try them! You'll have to let us know how you like them... Tara- I'm there with you on the disp. ones! I *do* use the lansinoh ones, and they at LEAST don't ever leak on me, and I am a HUGE leaker too.

I would love to know if anyone finds some washable ones that work or if yours work good Esther. The washable ones that I have tried are useless. Been there with AHH you can see the breast pad, so it sounds cool that those ones are thin. Hope they work!

I used them with my first but they didn't really stay on like they were supposed to, leaving room for leaks. I am a DD and I use a combo of washable and disposable pads now w/ baby #2.

I just bought a bunch of cloth ones, and I used them for all 3 kids. My sister bought them at Meijer, of all places. (I was on strict bedrest, and needed them before I even delivered). I never even used the disposable ones from the hospital. They made noise and just didn't feel right.

I didn't know about Lily Padz until #2 and I already had a bunch of cloth ones. They sure do look cool! I'll be interested to hear how they work for you!

I've never heard of Lilypadz but would be interested in knowing if they work. disposables are expensive.... I had some for when my children were newborns and I was engorged, and then later I used them when I was going out and just used cloth ones at home. Now I just wear a padded nursing bra and I don't use any pads! kinda like it. I don't think I leak as much as some people might though.

I used the medela ones both the washable and disposible ones. I think the washables one worked better in the sense that they stay put better.

Hi ladies, I am gonna resurrect this thread...okay?

I just got some Lilypadz...just one pair to start off with...until I could "prove" them...especially since there was quite a few comments on not working with "being large".

Anyway...I LOVE THEM! I am a size D not nursing...and I don't honestly know what I for sure 'measure' when fully loaded...but the big test was overnights...because I am always FULL FULL FULL in the mornings (I pump a good 7 oz AFTER Jonathan eats)...anyway I have had problems with the disposable pads leaking and leaving me wet so I was anxious to see how the Lilypadz would work...

On the first day of usuage, I had one leak at let down but I don't think I had the nipple fully compressed like they say to and it was only on one side...upon fixing this problem I went all through the rest of the day and overnight and had no leakage! [claphigh]

I have noticed that frequent washing is a good thing and if you get 'dirt' or something on the sticky side and don't wash them that can provide for leakage...but if you keep them clean and you fully compress the nipple...I have had no problems with them and in comparing the costs...they are a cost effective alternative...

Just thought I'd share since I had seen this post earlier and have since tried them!

I must have missed this thread earlier.....

I bought them with ds and I'm with Kansasmom, I loved them! They work like a charm. Kansasmom is right, you have to make sure your nipple is compressed properly, but its not a big deal and once you figure that out, its super easy. I didn't use them with dd because I wore mine to the beach and got sand in them, and they didn't clean well after that. (And I didn't get around to buying a new pair because I didn't leak nearly as much with dd.)

The only "downside" if you can call it that, is that you can't just pop it on like you can a cloth one inside your bra. It is a *bit* of fiddling, which is not an issue unless you are nursing in front of people you don't want to show your girls to! lol But I still recommend them. :)

How encouraging to hear that they worked for you guys!! I have two sets, my sister bought them for me for Christmas.
My question is, if you are nursing out in public, can you put them right back on after nursing? or do you need to wash and dry them?

In my experience, as long as they were applied properly so that there was no leaking, there should be no issues putting them back on. If there was some leaking, then the moisture will make it difficult to reapply. If you are worried, then I would just suggest the first few times you wear them you are at home while you get the hang of it.

I agree with Kim that you should definitely try them at home a few days first if possible just to get the hange of applying and reapplying before testing in public...

Personally I've had no problem reapplying multiple times between washes...but once they started getting more "gunky" for lack of terms then it was time to rewash...I did have several times when a little milk would collect in the cup but it was still sealed around the edges and didn't leak...with those times, I just let the milk "air dry" while I nursed and it was usually gone by the time I was ready to reapply...you could also shake them to dry them but that probably wouldn't work in public :-)

LOL, I could just see me shaking one in a restaraunt and then there it goes, flying across the room and into someone's salad! hahahahha how would I explain that one? Because of course I would need it back!

I have wool ones and they are THE best! you never have to wash them unless they get too hard with absorbed milk (so every couple days to a week) and they just hand wash with wool wash and hang dry (they dry in 24 hours or less.) PLUS they already hand lanolin in them!!![clapping]
