For the past few days i've noticed that Ethan is not eating as much. A few ounces less than usually. He's not sick or anything but i'm wondering if it's the heat or the fact that my MIL has been taking care of him since i've started working part-time? :? Is this normal?! I'm a little worried.

Vanessa, I'm sorry I can't remember how old Ethan is. But I think a few ounces more or less is fine. With growing spurts they may drink more, and if it is a new situation with you back at work, it may affect your son just a little. Plus if any solids are started they can also drop in the amount of formula they drink. Heat can also affect the amount of formula intake I noticed in my sons.

If you notice other worrisome signs, sometimes is can be illness, ear infection, or teeth. And if your mommy instinct tells you something may be wrong call you dr. But is sounds to me like it is normal.

Oh these little guys already know really well how to make their mommies worry don't they. Hang in there, praying for you and Ethan.

Both my sons went through this. I noticed it lasted only a few days to a week and then they would be eating everything in sight. Are you starting to offer solids or is he strictly still on liquid? It could also be caused by the change in routine. I wouldn't worry about it unless he stops eating all together. My dh always tells me when I worry about the boys eating "Aren't there days when you are just not hungry?" And I have to say "not too many!" LOL! He will be fine. I will send up a prayer for peace for you because I know how we worry about them.

Renee, you are sooo right, they sure do know how to make you worry, even at a young age. Sam is the same way as your boys Carolyn, there are days she eats everything in sight and then on other days she eats like a bird! Vanessa, I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if he starts to eat less and less, then I would call his pediatrician. I notice on days that Sam stays with her grandparents, she eats less then when she is at home with us and my MIL & I think it's because she in a different place and there are so many things to do and see and she'd much rather check things out then eat!

I was just wondering if he might be teething? It seemed like Micah did this too around that time and as you said it has been hot so that may be part of it too! I am sure though he is getting enough but if you are concerned or if he doesn't seem like his normal self then it wouldn't hurt to call a nurse or take him to the Dr.

I wouldn't worry, either. My dd has gone through that quite a few times. For a couple weeks I felt she wasn't eating much more than a bowl of oatmeal and milk several times a day. If nothing else had changed just give him some time.
