I know I have seen this before but can't find it...okay [whistle] I did not look, but I figured we could start again.

My just-turned 8 month old boy is little brother to a 3 and 1/2 year old boy and youngest at the sitter's.

He has been belly scooting and army crawling for a while now and just in the past few days has started crawling on all fours. However, before he began to crawl "normally" he was already pulling himself up to standing and even cruising a little  He would prefer to stand on your lap and even when he does crawl, he likes to have one knee down and the other leg actually up on his toes.

Is it just me or is this a little early for some of this? I don't think my oldest started to cruise until later and was almost a year when he walked.

When did your kids begin to do some of this and when did they start to walk?

Hmmm.....let's see. If I remember correctly my dd started pulling herself up at 8 1/2months and started cruising at 9months. But she didn't start walking until 11 1/2 months. She took her first steps at 11months but started fully walking by 11 1/2. I thought she would've walked sooner since she started cruising around at 9mths but I think it took her a while to gain the confidence to let go of the furniture.

Same exact thing happened with my dd.

my oldest walked across the room on her first birthday.
my second was 15 months, and he would walk just fine holding your hand, but not on his own, so we basically said, you're on your own buddy ( i was 6 months pregnant with #3, and he weighed just ove 30 lbs, couldn't carry him)
my third was cruising around furniture at 8 months, and by 9 months was walking all by herself.

It seems to vary widely. My first three girls were all very early walkers. Pulling up and beginning to cruise in the 9th month and walking in the 10th. In fact I have video of all of them practically running by their first birthday! They were all quite petite and my theory is that this has something to do with it, being a bit easier to get up and go. I have many friends whose kids didn't walk until months into their first year, one even had her two wait until 18 and 19mths. All are just fine today. The late walkers got REALLY proficient at crawling and got everywhere quickly on all fours. Mine did the army crawl but never got really good at it and focused on standing instead.

Our newest will be 8mths next week and has begun to crawl during the last week or so. I'm excited (and a bit sad) to watch her and can't wait to see what she'll do next.
