Ok, with school starting back in a few weeks for us, I am looking for some new reading material for Aaron. I would love to get him some christian fiction that fits his age group. He is 8, but reads on about 10yr level. Any suggestions?? I don't think he is ready for Frank Peretti yet, he doesn't like scarry things too much.

Max Elliott wrote a series of books for kids. I reviewed several of them and passed them on to my daughter when I was done (she was nine at the time). She seemed to enjoy them.

There is also the Wilderking Trilogy by Jonathan Rogers. I read the last one and enjoyed it, so I've gotten the first two from the library and I'm reading them with my kids.

I just came from the library, but I didn't see anything interesting. I will have to check out those two authors and see if our library carries them. Thanks! :D

Carolyn, we read, read, read in our house. The kids walk around the house with their books because they don't like to put them down. Here are some fun suggestions...

Blood Hounds inc. (series) by Bill Myers-(mysteries)--Christian

The Cul-de-sac Kids (series) by Beverly Lewis-(funny mysteries)--Christian

Three Cousins Detective Club (series) by Elspeth Campbell Murphy --Christian

The Boxcar Children (series) by Gertrude Chandler Warner (there are tons of these. He can go on forever. Scotty loved them)--Christian themed

Have you looked into Beverly Cleary? Awesome books!! She has TONS!

The Mouse and the Motorcycle (every boy must read this one! :) ) Beverly Cleary

Runaway Ralph by Beverly Cleary

the "Henry" books by Beverly Cleary

Judy Blume: Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Fudge, Superfudge (all so funny! :) )

One of Scotty's all time faves... The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynne Reid Banks

Well, there's a start, at least. If you can't find the Christian books at the library, you can probably find them at a Christian bookstore, or online (ebay?). I find books to be a great investment, especially if you're going to have other readers to follow.

Have fun!

Have you all read the Narnia books yet? I had a few CS Lewis books from that series before it became popular by the movie and both my kids loved them. After the movie I bought the single stories for my son(11 yrs now) and he read them all last year for his book reports.
