View Full Version : The coolest diapers! LadyLavender 12-23-2007, 12:02 AM Boy, do I wish I'd heard about these a long time ago- check these out!! www.gdiapers.com tripper 12-23-2007, 12:30 AM That's amazing! I'm going to pass this site address on to a good friend of mine with 2 still in diapers... Where do you buy them from? savedbygrace 12-23-2007, 12:44 AM I've seen these and think they're great EXCEPT how would you be saving money? Yes they are earth friendly but I want money friendly too. :) Ashlee 12-23-2007, 10:39 AM Ren aka crunchychristian had Rach sew her some inserts for her gdiapers. If you do it that way you can save money! Jessy 12-23-2007, 03:42 PM Wow, those look awesome and very user friendly! The only hesitation I have in using cloth diapers is all the confusing inserts and liners and such. That website was very informative. I'm going to look into these some more! Thanks for sharing. :-D mamallama 12-23-2007, 04:17 PM Those sound very cool! But I agree about the prices. You wouldn't think it would cost any more just for the inserts...considering there is actually less fabric! I understand the diapers themselves would be an investment but c'mon! $52 for 128 diapers inserts?! ~Tara~ 12-23-2007, 10:17 PM I used them briefly with Boo. Not ideal for newborns, in my experience and from what I've heard from others. Once beyond that newborn every-dipe-is-explosive stage, apparently, they really are great. I really liked the cover style. Very cute. And the whole back closure idea..I can see how that can be good for older ones who like to undo their own diapers (thankfully I've not yet had to deal with this personally, but, again, apparently, it's rather common *rolling eyes* ) and also good for crawlers who can easily catch velcro closures on the floor/steps and accidently undo things. I *have* had that one happen ;) I would definitely opt for the cloth insert though. For primary use. The whole remove a liner, rip, drop, swish, flush thing...hello...more work than my cloth! But, indeed convenient for away from home. Not as bulky to pack around as cloth and you can generally simply rip and dump the insert in the toilet and it still flush well...especially in those industrial toilets, kwim? Anywho, I think they're 'cool' but, I'm just not sure they're 'all that'. I did like them for outings and if I could get a deal, I would get them again for that purpose. But only if I could get a deal. Jessy 12-24-2007, 12:34 AM My question is how much is shipping?! That could get pretty expensive I'm sure. However, it did say there was a store near me that sells them. Maybe I will check them out. I'm really curious about these. 4HisGlory 12-24-2007, 02:50 AM In my cloth diaper search, I talked to a mom who used these for a while and she said she didn't like them because they leaked all the time on her...and she was a major cloth diaper queen (I don't know how old her baby was, it could be like Tara was saying...not so good with a newborn) personally I think the pockets are super simple...even though you have to tote around a wet bag. 4HisGlory 12-24-2007, 02:56 AM Wow, those look awesome and very user friendly! The only hesitation I have in using cloth diapers is all the confusing inserts and liners and such. That website was very informative. I'm going to look into these some more! Thanks for sharing. :-D I felt the same way when I first started my diaper search. But after A LOT of googleing I have found a ton of info that made it SO simple. (I could be wrong) but but you mostly have 3....well 4 if you count the "g" diaper. the pocket diaper that you stuff with whatever you want, the AIO (all in one) that has all the absorbent padding sewn into it. and Prefolds, that are more like your mama's old diapers that you put a butt cover over. In the beginning it can be very overwhelming but once you get the basic ideas down it becomes super simple and FUN! ~Tara~ 12-24-2007, 05:44 PM Becky....you left out fitteds. Fitted dipes that still need a cover. Those are *my* faves. I just don't 'get' pocket dipes and don't think AIOs are 'all that'. That whole diaper/cover persistent urine contact thing..eh, not so good on the PUL. Which is part of my 'gripe' about pockets as well. Anywho...with gDiapers..I guess that makes *5* 'styles' huh? Ren 12-26-2007, 05:45 PM I really like my gdipes. . .What I've found to be my biggest problem is that the pee can get up past the plastic liner and get on the clothe outer shell farely easily so, you want to make shure you have enough on hand. Also, ebay has gdipes for a little less and I personally found them at the health food store on sale. If you have a health food store near you, I'd get them there even if they aren't on sale cause you'll at least save on the shipping. both the stores in my area carry them so, . . .I'm assuming many others do too. You will pay more if you use the dispossable incerts but, if you get clothe incerts it's a pretty good deal. Also, scraping poop off an insert is WAY easier than getting a pre-fold/tri-fold, AIO, pocket diaper in the potty and wiped off. Less space taken up in the bucket too. AND sooooo, cute on their little bums!!! Happy Diapering=) -ren |
