Does anyone else have problems with their childrens sizes just all over the place and guessing if the size is right when shopping?
Meaning my 3 year old wears size 18mth to 2t short, I always have to take in the boys pants to fit the length, size 3t shirts, sometimes 4t, 4t underwear and anywhere from 4-6 in pajama's. And socks they range from all sizes. Than my 6 year old wears 4t pants, 5t shirts, and size 10 pajama's. I am so thankful for 4 boys becasue many times my purchases ment for one son go to another.
Now with my last being a girl, I am thankful dresses are a little more giving in sizing. She can wear smaller or bigger dresses with no real difference but again socks and pajama sizes are everywhere. And coats and bathing suits are another problem.
And after a couple washer and dryer trips again clothing changes sons. Its sometimes frustrating.
Maybe its just me?

it's not just you. depending on the make of clothing my 3 yr old son will wear anything from 3x to sixe 5. and my 19 month old daughter can wear anything from size 12 months to size 3. my 6 year old daughter, pants she needs a size 7 for the length but are way to big in the waist. thank goodness she likes to wear dresses and it is summer so she can wear capri's.

Sam's a little on the small side, but she is tall, we tend to put her in shorts, capri's or dresses and have to buy tops in a bigger size so her tummy is poking out!! Oh, I completely understand your fustration!!

I understand that issue. I don't understand the pj issue, they run sooo small. My 2yr old is in size 4-5. His normal clothing size is 3T/4T...what is up with that??? [whatquestion]

Okay I feel less crazy now, thanks moms. Yes I totally agree about the pajama thing, they run much to small, especially those really soft all cotton ones.

I know what you mean. Both of my kids are tall and slim and it's hard to find clothes to fit them. Slims are too small for them so I have to uy regulars or talls and have mom take them up in the waist. Stephanie :D

I totally understand! We have gone through that since Peyton was born. Ugh! She was always tall and slim but not slim enough for the clothing labeled *slim*. Shirts are always too short and wide. Jeans are too big in the wais to fit the length. That might be the style but it looks terrible on her.
I took some sewing lessons in the spring. The patterns are not any better than the store bough clothes but at least I can adjust clothes now.

I can relate! My son is 2,but wheres a 24m or 2T in shirts, but still a 18m in pants because he is so skinny!
I find that most clothes fit Abby perfectly (size 2). However sometimes I get pants and long sleeved tops that are too long and I have to fold the arms and legs up.

Our oldest, Gabe is six. He's down right chunky, (and only mommy can say that :-) but he's tall too) He weighs almost 75 pounds, so he's rather large. He wears a 10 in pants, 12 in underwear, and an 8/10 in shirts. I really don't have much problem with him if I buy a 10, they usually fit.
Now, our nine month old, bless his heart, he's as tall now as Gabe was when he was 16 months, but as skinny as most nine month olds, if not worse. he wears a LOT of rompers 12-18 months, and they fit in the length, but are SOOOOOO baggy on him. but at that age, it's sort of cute, kwim?
now for church, his little shorts and shirt outfits, we have to get 12 months for them to be long enough, but they fall off of him, so I just pin the inside back of the shorts and he wears it that way. I pin it so it looks like darts, not just pinned.
but Yes, I know what you're going through.
they have to make the pajamas tight for fire safety reasons, so I always buy a couple sizes up on pj's if I buy them at the store.
In addition to grabbing the size I think we need, I always eyeball the length. I can judge pretty well if we need a size bigger or smaller. I have also found that some brands run true, some run small, and some run big. So, with all that in mind, I actually do pretty well.
Plus, I have 3 boys, so if it doesn't fit one, it'll fit the next one
You all may have figured this out, but size 2s are smaller than size 24 m. Some sizes allow for diaper room, so are baggier. My daughter was small around, so instead of 18m, I would buy size 2 and found they fit better.
A hint for too short pants, especially worn in the knees. Cut out the knees and sew in a doubled strip of contrasting fabric 3 or more inches long. These new knees wear well and really extend the wearing time of clothes. They look really cute as well.

Do you have any pics of this? Sounds cool!
Hi,
I grabbed an old pair of my daughter's to photograph, so these are girly. If it were a boy's pair, the applique would have been a car or even a star. The bottoms of these were trimmed with yarn "fur" when she grew AGAIN.

I hope this helps!
