There is a woman or man (man pretending to be a woman?) calling people (mostly in the Kansas-TX), claiming to be connected to Christian Mommies.
She or he is asking "parenting Q's" and then [later calling back?] offering a walmart giftcard or something of that nature. It varies.
We have no idea who it is as of yet. But this sounds like a scam artist. We've heard from multiple concerned parents who felt something was fishy about the calls.
The number comes up on caller i.d. as PRIVATE CALLER.
BOTTOM LINE: THE CALL IS NOT LEGITIMATE
If you receive a suspicious call from anyone PLEASE do the following before taking another call on the phone:
1) Wait a few seconds for a clear dial tone, and then dial star 57. This will not give you information on the call, but it will provide a tool for authorities to track the call.
2) Call your local law enforcement and give them information regarding these phone calls that you and other homeschoolers are receiving.
3) Your law enforcement will contact your phone service, i.e. Sprint, etc., and work with them on determining these calls.
4) If the trace is successful, there will be an $8 charge.
- Thanks to one of the leaders of the group that received these calls for this info. in blue, and for her and another moms emails about this happening in the first place!
C'Moms doesn't spam: make calls or even send any emails out besides our monthly ezine. Nor do we have any "representatives."
Latest info. on this con person- emailed to us Apr 30 2007:
My wife received a phone call today from a woman claiming to represent
“Christian-mommies.com” . She goes by the name of Dyanna Williamson and gave her home address as 1626 Vail Dr., Denver Colorado 92648.
(Note from Rach: that fake address is not charted in Google Maps)
She informed my wife, Kathie, that she had been nominated by three
different people within our church as “Christian Mommie of the year” and
was interviewed. She was also informed that she might receive a $200
prize that she could donate
to our church, or keep. She also said that our church was one of three
churches that were nominated for a $ 50,000.00 award for something.
There were other things, but it struck us as a rather “odd” call to
receive a call like this “out of the blue” so I thought I would check into
it. Our identity has been tampered with 3 times last year thru the web
so you can imagine our suspicion is rather jumpy.
