We just got this new digital tv thingy and we have access to all kinds of programs you can watch on demand. We've been watching Billy and Mandy and Spongebob and House of Imaginary friends. I watch these programs with my kids and laugh louder than they do!! Some of these programs are so funny. I was just wondering if anyone else enjoyed watching tv/cartoons with your kids?

We have never watched any cartoon channels. But when they were younger we always rented the old Looney Tunes videos and eventually over the years we collected the DVD Golden Collection that they put out. My husband loves Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam and The Road Runner and Wile E Coyote! Oh, yeah and Porky Pig and Daffy Duck. So we always used to watch an hour or so of those every family night before game time and our old movie. You, know...I think I need to drag those back out. My husband is a hoot and can quote many parts of the classics! Thanks for the memories! I didn't vote because we don't do it any more. But we used to sit with them and watch when they were younger! :-D

I put no way, I don't have time. :) It seems like anytime the kids are "watching" something, I am doing something that I need to do while they are "occupied". :) Oy. We don't have TV per-se but we have DVD's... and when it's "that" time when I need a few minutes to get something done without little feet running around (thinking mopping here) then a movie gets put on... or the like, and typically I "don't" watch...

We do have family evenings when we all watch something together... like I love Lucy Dvd's or a Fun Pixar film... something like that...

Ha!! My hubby too, Leslie!!! Too funny!!! My In-laws have them on DVD and when we go over they always wind up putting them on for the kids, though we like watching them too... hehehehe Why is it that you're never too old for Looney Tunes??

my kids don't watch alot of tv. but they do watch some disney videos, they are allowed 1 movie per day. i love watching the gummi bears with them ( hubby and i both watched it as children) they are also allowed to play the v-tech or the smart cycle ( educational games) helps my son to work on some of his motor skills, while learning his letters and their sounds.

I sure do! I love the Backyardigans because they're always singing and dancing. Sometimes I try to get things done while they're occupied, but I usually get drawn in if I've never seen it before.

I HATE animation! LOL...so I always read up on it and ask for personal reviews from others and watch the first episode to get the "feel" and approve it...and then I have it on in hearing distance so I can "monitor" what's being said, etc....but sit down and watch to enjoy?? I'd rather fork my eyes out! UGH! LOL...

We don't have a lot of TV time here. And I've never liked the cartoon channels. I often wonder whatever happened to the 'good ole days' .. with stuff like Bugs Bunny and what about the Jetsons? The Flintstones? Even Garfield?? I don't think there's a cartoon worth watching on anymore.

We don't have such channels here anywho, so, that helps. The kids don't know 'what they're missing'. Another kid may mention such n such cartoon and my kid just looks at 'em like he has 3 heads heehee

Anywho..no, I don't watch with my kids..regular cartoons. But we do watch the animated movies together. Pixar films rock!! I can't tell you how many times hub and I have laughed our heads off at The Incredibles or Monsters Inc teehee

So, um, where does that make my vote go?

I do ocassionally watch TV with Trevor. But it's like Mickey Mouse, Handy Manny, DoodleBops - some are animated and some are not.

Yes we do!! The tv is rarely on but when it is the whole family is sitting down together. We love Foster's Home and Kids Next Door.

Our kids are not permitted to watch something we haven't already monitored and we watch the episodes so we can still monitor (just because one episode seemed okay doesn't mean they all are). We rarely watch movies just because they are sooooo long. 30 minutes seems to be max time a day we have to watch anything.

Now, today is the first day of our "break" so the kids are permitted to completely veg and do nothing (they had to have their rooms COMPLETELY cleaned and organized before they could have a free day ;) ). Branden and Nick are playing a strategy game on the computer and Raegan is listening to music or watching iCarly. They totally deserve a down day. They worked hard on school work all fall (especially while at the babysitters). Tomorrow starts the holiday rush of baking, wrapping, shopping, etc. No more down time after today. But they only get these type of free days about 5 days out of the year.

I'm with Breezy - animation drives me nuts for some reason. The only ones I can handle are the ones with humor big people can enjoy too - like Veggie Tales or Cars.
on friday we're flying to the Midwest to visit my family - and husband is taking his laptop along so Renee can watch a movie on the plane that will hopefully keep her quiet. My husband says he will only tolerate VeggieTales. :-D

We watch most of everything Ash watches either by sitting with him or by being in the room or near by. I like most of what he watches. We don't have cable or anything like that so most of what he watches is what we buy him and I don't buy him anything that I really don't care for like Doodlebops or the Wiggles. We watch a lot of Thomas, old Scooby Doo, Muppets, Clifford and stuff like that. I crack up on the Thomas shows, especially when the trains have their angry faces! Plus, my husband and I crack up on the narrators (George Karlin, Ringo Starr & Alex Baldwin).

I have to admit that we enjoy watching tv together. It can be on all day while we veg out on a saturday or it can be off for days. I hated small children's tv and I dont like the disney shows but some of the other ones are really good fun. We all watch it together. There are some shows I cannnnnoooot stand tho!!! And certainly some programs they are not allowed to watch. I am finding that alot of the humour revolves around someone farting, picking their nose or generally being very annoying. Kids love that stuff I guess.

My dd is allowed a video (Veggie Tales, Dora or Elmo's World) when she gets home and I am cooking dinner. On the weekends she is allowed to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and I ususally sit on the couch and watch it with her. The sad thing is when I am at the office and I am singing the "hot dog" song from MMC.

I'm really not into cartoons but will occasionally watch The Backyardigans or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with my littlest one. My oldest is into Hannah Montana right now.

Yes we also can't stand the quite so I have the TV on all the time too. We are choosy with the shows. Joel loves 'In the Night Garden', 'Farzels World' 'Pokeyo'

My husbands cracks up with Bugs Bunny too. just before bed he watchs that while Joel is sleeping...too late for Joel and my husbands cracks up.

I love the Old Scooby doo but not any more, yuck they have sure changed. I love the Flinstons, and the Jetsens.

We are a definet yes for watching cartoons.

If there were any cartoons on peasent vision, then I might! We don't watch morning TV here, so no cartoons there. And Saturday morning doens't have cartoons anymore either. But I did buy season 1 of the Flinstones and I watch that with them, 'cause I love it! And Fraggles I bought too.

When my kids were little, we'd watch PBS kids' shows at a particular time each day...as one of the "times" amongst "coloring time", "play time", "reading time", and so on. That was pretty much the only network TV we watched. I watched with them about half the time but could hear it if I was just around the corner doing a chore. We've never had cable or satellite, but we'd get videotapes of okay shows. We did lots of videotapes once they outgrew PBS's shows. And, I'd watch with them. It's always been fun to be able to goof around and quote, say, SpongeBob or some other character together with my kids. We use the lines in our conversations sometimes. Too fun! (SpongBob: "Patrick, don't you have to go be stupid somewhere else?" Patrick: "Not till 4 o'clock.") Now, they're teens, but we still don't have cable or satellite. We've had Netflix for a few years...so I still mostly decide what we watch with some exceptions. My husband and I still like to be able to hang out with our kids and quote lines from shows to each other. I always liked the comaraderie of watching shows together, still do, and being able to discuss the virtues of an episode...or the nonvirtues...or the funny parts or sad parts. Good family times...love it! I love my babies, even though they're both way bigger than me now. They're cozy!! [crossandheart]
