My name is Joy. I'm the mother of 2 year old Elaina and 8 month old Abigail. I was just wanting some opinions on TTC. I've been trying to lose the weight I gained with both pregnancies (total of 60 lbs) for 7 months now and I have not lost a single pound!!! I eat right, I exercise, I sleep... I don't know what is going on! I got so fed up with it, I started wondering if I should take a break from that and just TTC now (I wanted to lose at LEAST 40 lbs before starting). I don't have health issues and even though I was 50 lbs heavier than usual with my last pregnancy, I did not have gestational diabetes or any other complications. What do you guys think???

Hello Joy! I'm Jessy :) Welcome!

As for you question regarding losing the weight, have you had your thyroid checked? Just wondering because I know that the doctor I work for has seen lots of women who have no idea they have a problem other than through a simple blood test that he's ordered due to symptoms such as yours (struggling to lose weight etc.) Anyways, it's just a thought. I hope it all works out for you!

Blessings,

Jessy

yea, if you have reduced your calories, exercise and get rest, it might be medical.

there is a formula for weight loss, like what your caloric intake should be cuz when you say "eat right" it could be that you still are eating more calories than you burn and can't lose the weight.

for me, i weighed 180 and my intake was reduced to 1,100 CRUEL CALORIES a day.
i lost 15 lbs. and didn't really have time to exercise as much.

then i found out i was preggers. so i have now gained it all plus, plus.

i plan to reduce it again to around 1,200.

i don't know your weight but you can speak to your doc. about a healthy, safe reduction in calories, if you haven't already.

God bless you.

Many OB's recommend a check-up before TTC. If you have concerns about beginning a pregnancy before losing the weight, you could schedule an appointment. I'd agree with the others about getting your thyroid checked to It's common to have problems pop up with it after a pregnancy. Kind of like you're body doesn't reset itself properly. Easy to check and to fix.

I agree with pp in getting your thyroid checked.

I'm not sure if you're currently on any meds but that could impact the inability to lose weight.

You're sure doing all of the right things so I'm wishing you the best of luck!

Hi Joy,
I have been struggling with the same issue. Over the summer I gained a lot of weight and am now trying to lose it. My body does not lose weight very fast, I have to work really hard for every pound. I have so far lost 7 pounds. I am debating on the same issue. Should I start TTC or work on losing weight first? They are two completely separate things to work towards so to speak. I have decided for now to put off TTC until the end of February, until I have reached my goal weight and then TTC after that.
I don't know if that helps or not, it was encouraging to see your posting because then I don't feel so alone in this issue.
Thanks again and keep your head up.

Thank all of you so much!!! Your answers were all so sweet. I think I'll make the appointment, check things out, then go from there. If it is a medical issues, deal with it. If it isn't then I'll discuss options with the doc about weight loss and TTC. Thanks again!
