View Full Version : OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH OUCH
I think Sophie has a favourite position to lie in that is pressing on a nerve or some ribs :( It REALLY hurts! I was crying earlier on because it feels like I have broken ribs. It's in exactly the same place every time. On my back and my front now too. I have it every day especially at night when I'm watching TV.... seems to happen at the same time every night. I can't get rid of the pain. I've tried Panadol (Tylenol) and a heatpack. I've tried just lying down ... nothing works!
7thHeaven 07-17-2006, 03:46 PM Awww, sweetie I'm sorry your in soo much pain...I'll pray that Sophie finds a new position to lie in.
Godzgirl 07-17-2006, 10:57 PM So sorry. :( It will be over before you know it. You don't have much longer do ya?
Six weeks! I can't put up with this for that long! It's really bad.
Ok lets just say I have been crying and I actually feel hate towards Sophie for lying in that position. How horrid is that.  But I can't handle this pain!
I agree with Joy. Make an early appointment and see what is going on if possible.
Anytime bub gets too facinated with my ribs I am generally able to push on her bottom and move her down again.
Renee, would you consider going to see your doctor? You may get an utrasound out of it. :D Carissa, my second, became positioned in a strange way when I was about as far along as you. Like what you're experiencing, she was on a nerve and the pain was unbearable. The doc wanted to see for himself what was going on and then he moved her over. It helped so much and it's always fun to get another peek at the baby. :D
Joy [welcomewave]
I have an appointment with my midwife this morning (if I actually get there since it looks like it's going to rain  ) so I will be asking her about the pain then.

The thing is she does move... then she moves back. So even if the midwife does move her down she will probably just move back up there tonight. KWIM? Like when they do the external whatever they call it  to turn a breech baby around... there are no guarantees and they can just turn back into the breech position again. Since I have over 5 weeks to go if she does move baby down she is most probably not going to stay down for long.
Godzgirl 07-18-2006, 06:11 PM Hey Renee, did you go to the doctors?
Hi yes I just got back from seeing the midwife. She said that it sounds like baby is lying on a nerve or pushing on my ribs and that there isn't anything they can do about it. She just told me that if the pain ends up being constant and doesn't go away at all then I should let her know.
I have another appointment next Wednesday... every week from now on...
The weird thing is that she told me that my bloods came back normal   I was expecting her to tell me my iron levels are still low because I haven't been taking my iron pills (always forget) and I had a low Ferriten level (13). But amazingly... my iron level is back to normal. And I've done nothing!   I have been having 2 cups of Milo a day which provides 100 % of my RDI for iron. But I thought because I was low in iron that it still wouldn't be enough.
So that's really crazy!
You gotta be made of Milo!
Sorry the midwife couldn't offer you much help! Sometimes I think unless they have experienced this kind of trauma before they don't appear understanding, or don't understand! I can only kind of understand what you are going through because this morning Bub got into this most awful position I couldn't move, I thought my ovary was going to rip off, thankfully she moved off the spot and I was able to get up.
Praying these weeks will fly by for you Renee
aussie Mum
LOL
Yeah I think you're right too. I sometimes feel that way when I talk to family and friends too. That they just don't seem to understand HOW bad the pain is  You tell them but it just doesn't register LOL
I've been in pain all day pretty much. From about 11am to now (6.30pm) and it's still here. It's got worse throughout the day...
I am pretty much guaranteeing (sp?) you that when I go to sit down and eat dinner it will be REALLY bad
Want to know about OUCH! I am now officially (acording to the calander) 8 months pregnant and my breasts are THROBBING!
Is this normal - can't say I had this one with the twins? I guess it is normal. WHERE ARE MY ICE PACKS LOL
I'm sorry to hear that :( I'm also 8 months (36 weeks and 3 days).
This rib pain is killing me.
I did too much yesterday. I cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen. Then I did dinner. I was hoping Paul would buy takeaways but no. :( So I cooked Sweet & Sour Pork. Then I did the dishes. Ahem. Then we were running out of hot water  So by the time I had my shower last night the water was cold. So I couldn't wash my hair.
Then I woke up at 6.30am this morning to Abby crying. She'd wet the bed. So she went straight into the bath. I still have to change her bedding and wash it.
I just want to lie down and go to sleep. :(
Renee - speaking of nerves, I came to the conclusion this morning that pregnancy is the only time when "you are getting on my nerves" is no longer just a saying (meaning = the baby really DOES get on your nerves)...
Sigh, I shall never take that saying lightly again LOL
Yesterday she got on something in my back which sent twings down my leg. I was jumping around the room and laughing waiting for her to move.
[rofl] so true!!!
I wish I could laugh about it...
Do you get the sharp pains down your legs or in your pelvis when you get up from sitting/lying down and you are walking along and you get jolts of pain? I think I need a walking stick [rofl]
7thHeaven 08-01-2006, 08:54 PM I'm sorry to hear that :( I'm also 8 months (36 weeks and 3 days).

Kick back! Relax! and let Paul starve!! J/K  I'm sorry Sophie still hasn't moved [hug] and I'll continue to pray that she will move because...OUCH is right. And hopefully you won't need the walking stick!
 Thanks! She does move... but I can guarantee that she will get into that position at least once every day for at least 15 minutes... sometimes it's much longer maybe 2 hours. When she first started it it was almost all day every day  She has eased up a bit now LOL
Oh Renee - have you been having any Charlie Horses?
I was having such a nice sleep and I woke up yelling with a Charlie Horse - I was amazed at how unfreaked DH was considering what went on in my last pregnancy. He just sat up and started rubbing my leg.
NEVER has this happened before LOL... oh dear!

I got Charlie Horses ALOT when I was pg! They hurt so bad I could cry! I'd never had it happen before or after my pregnancy, just while I was pg. It is weird how that happens!

You mean leg cramps? If so, yes. I had it worse with my first pregnancy. Now I only get them when I stretch my legs or while I'm sitting down on the floor changing Abbys nappy  I had one cramp in one of my ankles one night. But other than that I haven't woken with leg cramps at all.
They say that it is a lack of something in your diet ...I think Potassium.
So I must be eating more foods with Potassium in them this time around.
I always thought that non-pregnancy leg cramps were due to low electrolytes???? Dehydration???
I don't know... but it could be dehydration. I did read somewhere that they think it's due to a lacking of something like Potassium ... I can't remember what.
Godzgirl 08-09-2006, 12:09 AM I haven't been online as often as before but i've been thinking about you. I know you've been in alot of pain, how are you holding up?
Not so good! :( Hopefully the next 17 days will go really fast. And my grandmother is visiting this morning....
I am so ready for this to be over. But the house isn't ready. I'm in too much pain to do anything more than the dishes and washing and vacuuming and making the bed etc... even that is a mission. And cooking dinner is a mission.
I need to just tell everyone that I don't want visitors over the next two weeks because I really need to get the house ready. I haven't even got the portacot up or the baby clothes out of the cupboard. I haven't packed my hospital bag or Abbys bag...
Do you think it would be rude to put a sign up outside that says "No visitors thanks"?
No just tell them and if they can't understand that your house isn't going to be perfect due to the fact you are about to drop a baby DEFINATELY don't have them over.
DH and I agreed that if people want to be petty about the state of my house at the moment they aren't the kind of people we want to be keeping company with at the moment anyhow.
Anytime I do too much he ends up having to either run me a warm bath or massage my back or I fall asleep in the couch LOL (I am sure everyone can identify)

So sorry Renee. :( I totally can relate it was the same for me when i was pregnant. It's good to hear that you only got 17 days left though! How exciting! [clap] I don't think it's rude to let people know that you are not up for visitors. If they get bothered by it (which they shouldn't ) you don't have to worry they will get over it. After my c-section i told people i wasn't up for visitors (especially since i was alone and it was hard to get up to get the door :? ) some got mad (which i thought was inconsiderate  ) but they got over it. Oh and don't even worry about the house the girl! That should be the last thing on your mind right now.

Yes! I cleaned the laundry room on Sunday and then lay down on the couch and fell asleep and slept for about 4 hours  When I woke up Paul had prepared dinner and all I had to do was cook it. I told him I was sorry that I fell asleep and he told me not to be sorry and that he was going to cook dinner too. :D So that was really sweet of him!
Thanks girls. :) I spoke to my midwife about this yesterday and she said the same thing. That people will be coming to see me and baby not the house and that they won't care if it's messy. But I just can't seem to get over it. It really embarrasses me and I would rather just say "no visitors" or hide when people just 'pop over' without calling first. And not answer the phone.
I guess I just need to lighten up.
Oh I know! I try to get her to move by pressing down in certain places with my fingers. But it doesn't work. I just have to wait until she decides to move
