Oldest left for college

Hi All,
I am new to this site, and glad to have found you all!!! I am still grieving the change in my life as my oldest left for college in August!!. He is at a great school and only 1.5 hours away, but I miss him terribly. I have another one leaving in the fall and then again the next fall....and one that is 11. How do we get used to this new phase in our life. I know logically all the things about how ...this is what is supposed to happen....etc...but my heart aches. You know? when you have been raising kids for 18 years and then "POOF" its on to the next stage. We have a great relationship and talk fairly often or I send him cards and care pkg's....but I still miss him.
I would love to hear how you all handle this new change in your life and the ache in your heart for your son

Awww. I sort of know how you feel. My oldest is in college but she is going to college right here in town so I don't have to miss her that much,but it is still not that easy knowing that she will be moving out in the next few years. Our next child will be in college in 2 years and then the next one the year after that. Our son is still only 8 so will have some extra time then and not have the empty nest as soon. Time just goes by way too quickly. Wish we could keep them little longer.
