AHHHHHH.... My midwife today is going to start.... ahem... poking around in THERE.

I know exactly how it feels from my pregnancy with Kylah and it's NOT nice. Actually, I went into labour that night. Not that it was because of that but I'm so nervous!! I packed my hospital bag just in case.

I will let you know how it goes. EEK!

Congratulations! You are going to meet your baby soon. How exciting!!!
I hope your labour goes well!

Am I allowed to ask? Do you have to get your membranes stripped?? I do not know very much about this. Just wondering.

I had my membranes stripped with ds and I didn't have any pain at all. So, maybe you won't this time! My dr. left it up to me and asked what I preferred. I went into labor about 8-10 hours after my appt. I know some ladies who don't go into labor after the 'porcedure' though. It worked out perfectly with the 1 day that my dh had off work. Let us know what happens!

I forgot to add that I also had my membranes stripped with DD #2 and it didn't "hurt" was just uncomfortable and didn't do anything to speed up labor... I still went into labor right when I normally do at 37 weeks. :) BUT, I do know other women who say that the stripping sent them RIGHT into active labor... I hope you meet your baby soon and that it all goes very smoothly!

Hey Ya'll,

Ok so the appointment went well BUT they didn't do any stripping of membranes. We didn't even discuss it. They did say however, that the baby isn't really very low at this point... he or she is lower but not fully engaged. I figured maybe that's why they didn't talk to me about stretching me or whatever. It would probably cause unnecessary discomfort. I'm only 38 1/2 weeks and to be honest, I'm totally fine with not having this baby right now. I'm trying to enjoy my limited number of days with my first little one before our lives change forever. :) Plus, I kinda have a few more things I'd like to get done before a new baby takes over my life again.

I will definately be up for stripping my membranes next week though... so hopefully my body will be just "ripe" enough to really get things going!!

Oh and Plaid, stripping your membranes isn't something that you NEED to get done. It's totally YOUR choice if you want your doctor or midwife to do it. It just sometimes helps the process along.

With my daughter, I was 41 weeks already, I had lost my mucus plug, she could feel my water bulging and ready to burst at any moment so she went ahead and did it... I was pretty uncomfortable for the rest of the afternoon and then as I was walking around Ikea waiting to go to an appointment for an ultrasound to check my fluid and if the baby was still ok in there, I noticed I was leaking some sort of liquid. I thought perhaps it was just regular discharge (it's so hard to tell by the end) but had a suspicion that my water was breaking... I went to the hospital to get it checked out and they admitted me! So all that to say, I do think that the stripping of my membranes helped out huge but I do think my body was just ready for things to happen. :)

Well in Australia they don't do this procedure till you are on your date or over.
No way do you have to do this nor do you have to be induced. You can just get regular scans to check bub if you want to do things naturally.

If you aren't ready it can do nothing but make you uncomfortable.
Also it can cause things to happen when they aren't ready causing more intervention during the birth.eg drugs to induce labour because you water broke but no labour.

Seems they do things very diffrent there.I would say let things take there course.

I know you want it over I have only 4 weeks left.Iam fedup and it is very hot here.Iam not handling it well.
Plus running after a 3,4 and 6 year old.But God made the time 40 weeks.Plus I think natural is the way to go don't like doctors.Iam not sick just pregnant.

Enjoy your beautiful bub belly.Good Luck and God Bless[loveyou]

I'm glad your dr. appt went good. I had my membranes stripped with DS and I almost smacked my dr.! OUCH! It didn't make me go into labor with him. In fact I had three gel treatments over a week time period and they helped me to dialate to three but that was it. Now the Pitocin, that worked! :-D

P.S. He was 5 days late and weighed 9 lbs and 7 oz!

I am glad everything went well. I will have to learn more about these things since I want to try a vbac this time and do not want to use drugs to get induced. Hoping my baby comes on time... Long way off!
You are so close! Blessings!
