Licking

OK, my 2 yo is into licking these days. She'll lick me, dh, her sis, the table, her shoes, anything she can get her little tongue on! [whatblah] What gives??? Anyone else experience this with their little one??

My don did this for about a month at around 18 months....weird and yuck! LOL He finally just stopped....we'd just say "yucky" and "no" when he did it....This too shall pass!

Abby does it sometimes too. :roll: I'm sure it is normal...

:lol: my son just did that today - he only licked my computer chair and the monitor but it was so weird! i didn't realize other kids did it, too - hopefully they decide other stuff doesn't taste good and won't do it anymore!

At least one of my neices and my ds went through a licking phase- I still get an occasional "doggy kiss" from my boy- I don't mind too much... don't remember him ever licking inanimate objests once he was past that stage, but would tell him no mouth if I ever saw him licking something germy...

DD used to come up and lick us on the arms or try and lick us on the face. We told her it was completely gross and she has stopped, she got bored of it I think :lol:

She still likes to stick her tongue out at every opportunity though and bulge her eyes out which looks terrible but we can't stop her from doing it so I ignore her now :?

I remember as a little girl I used to lick the flyscreens on the house EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW that dusty squash fly taste.

It could be the reaction, my brother and I used to lick batteries too to get that electric zap and laugh about it.

My dd went through the licking phase too. Her licks even came with sound effects--slurp! She liked to lick me most of all because it really grossed me out, ...anything to get a rise out of mom. She also would lick old gum on the undersides of tables and chairs...ah the joys of parenthood. Now that she's three she only does it if a dog licks her first, then she returns the favor.

OK, now I don't feel so bad. After reading what some of your kids are licking I can call myself lucky. The grossest thing she's licked is the bottom of her shoes. Anyway, I know at this age they generally will do something to see what kind of reaction they can get. She's actually starting to tone it down a bit.

Yep..DD is into licking. Anything in general. She is not biased :lol: Recently, though she has added shoes to her list. So we have put a baby gate up on our door to our room. We keep all shoes in there now.

ok. I have a 15-year-old daughter who LOVES to lick, because she knows is grosses us out. I'm posting this in hopes of cutting down on the licking... :lol: She'll die when she finds out I posted this. She just licked 18-month old son last night, and he SCOWLED at her -- my husband and I just about died laughing...

my son does that sometimes too, usually when he's pretending to be a dog! lol
