My 4 yr. old Aaron was on medicine Mon, Tues. and Wed. (it was like Claritin). On Thursday he had 4 MESSY pants and it got smeared all over things in the bathroom (just him trying to get out of the messy pants and then trying to clean himself up). Today he's had 2 messy pants and they were each right after he'd eaten. The last one (sorry might be TMI) was greenish and that made me rethink things and think diarrhea. I gave him a small dose of diarrhea medicine so we'll see if that helps things. He's been acting fine though just having the messy pants, bathroom, floor, clothes, etc. I am just SO tired of cleaning up all the messes!
So, does anyone know of anything to feed him that might help stop this mess?

when my son was sick with gastro ( and in the hospital) they said to give him a b.r.a.t. diet. bananas, rice apple sauce and toast. you should also limit diary products.

Was he ever on this type of med. before? His body may not agree with it. If he doesn't stop the diarhea by Sunday, he prob. has a virus. BRAT diet is correct. If it is the rotovirus it could last up to 9 days. Just watch to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated.. keep us posted

when my kids have loose bowels..I give them a banana (part of the brat diet) and that usually helps bind them right up. My son especially..give him two if you can!!

I don't have any bananas and he doesn't like them so won't eat it either.
I really hope he is over it because Sat. afternoon/evening we're having a house full of teens over for pizza and games.
He's been kind of cute though as i try to clean things up, he tells me he's "sorry and I won't do that again" He knows he's not to mess his pants but the last time I just tried telling him that he needs to tell me when he does this so I can help him clean up and that I think he might be sick and that is why he is doing it. It's not like he's messing his pants on purpose.
He didn't start this until 12+ hours after his last dose of the medicine so not sure that it's because of the medicine because he wasn't doing this while taking the medicine.

could very easily be food poisoning too...from veggies/fruits/dairy/proteins.....I had food poisoning and it comes on quickly and is intense and then lets up until you eat again and then comes back....I'd take him to the doc to be sure.
Make sure to keep him drinking/eating ice chips and popcicles a lot!

oh, poor thing!!
when my dd had something like that, she would feel horrible too..poor little guy!!
Gross question...is it still brown? or is it getting more and more watery?
What about rice? Does he like eating white rice (my kids love that!) or apple sauce...you could try those things. Cheese binds my kids up too...

Just wanted to say that our family had something similar to this a few weeks ago!!! I know that the cramps hit me very quickly, so poor little guy probably had a hard time making it to the bathroom on time :( I am sorry for you mama as I am sure it has been a lot of work! Anyway it sounds to me like it may be a stomach virus??

When my son used to get diarrhea, he was drinking wuite a bit of juice, especially apple, which is weird 'cause I think apple juice is binding for some? anyway, I switched to grape and mix it to almost half strength and limit him to one serving/day... your son is a bit older than mine, though, so I don't know why there would be a sudden change unless he was drinking/eating more of something than usual? Anyway, just a thought :)

Well whatever was up, we had no messes yesterday (Saturday) which was good because we had 22 people at our house for pizza and games that evening! So glad whatever that was is GONE!
