I put this under parenting thread as I couldn't find picks of the day or forward thread! It is good to know as a parent. I got this in my e-mail today and was able to change the setting on my cell phone as well as the setting of my sons' cell phones. Ithought I would pass it along since it seems to be true. I hope it is never needed but I was glad to change the setting on my sons' phone for sure! :)

Read below about how to turn this safety feature on your phone. I didn't know our phones had the feature on them! My phone has it and I have now enabled it! Do the same! You may remember that a young woman was recently abducted from a Target parking lot in Overland Park , a suburb of Kansas City . Her body was discovered many miles away in Missouri . They were able to locate her by the sequence of cell phone towers that picked up her cell phone location. She had not attempted to dial out, but when her family was trying to call her the towers could sense her phone. Sadly, the authorities were not able to reach her in time. However, they were able to locate her body which was in an area where they never would have searched without the cell phone tower information.Below is information you may find helpful. The cell phone'locator' can be either set on 'E911' in which case you must dial out to be located, or it can be set to be on all the time. With it on all the time you can be located by emergency services through the police if you fail to respond (sick, injured or worse).ALL cell phones have this feature. It's called Location. It'sunder the 'Settings' or 'System' tool. Once you turn this on, THEN your phone is traceable (select 'Location On' instead of 'E911 Only'). To stay safe, everyone needs to check their phone and turn this on!!! Please pass the word to everyone you know. Checked my phone and changed the setting as soon as I got thise-mail. Please do it also I think it is a great feature to help keep ussafe and all of us usually have our cell phone with us at all times.

Yes, do this. We did this to ours when we updated our phones last month.
We have a GPS tracking moniter in dd's new car. We can find out where she's been, how long she was there, etc. We TRUST her, just in case she meets up with a heebie jeebie.
Sometimes I like this new tech stuff!!!
